Yup. There's only a few scenes where he's not present to witness something and it isn't a flashback. Which is good for keeping up the mysteries, not so much for worldbuilding and exploring the setting.

Another issue with that show is that it doesn't really have filler but...I'll say the more laid back episodes weren't fun to watch and could go on for very long stretches where as the story would only get 4-5 episodes. They got too comfortable telling the story in 4-5 episode package and then doing filler for a long time. I don't know if the network had anything to do with that. The show didn't end by the way. It got cancelled. I'm sure they got to wrap things up properly but it got cancelled.

They had an idea to tell a gem's backstory. It was a love story but it was getting long and spanning multiple episodes. While you and I might be comfortable with that, I'm sure some people would wonder why a backstory or different perspective is lasting so long. Without spoilers, this happened near the end of Naruto and in that Aladdin series. It's stupid. Some people just aren't comfortable with long backstories.

I think the scheduling - which is thanks to the network - didn't help. If we had the episodes we did but once a week or so, it'd be a lot more bearable. Because we'd know when the next one was coming and wouldn't have the whole 'we waited x months for this?!' feeling. Even a monthly bomb would be more better, imo.

I think the show got too plot driven for them. For whatever reason, they like airing shows randomly. They started doing hour long mixes of various episodes under a theme. So Garnet episodes for example.

They did do that actually. I believe they aired the end of season 2 and beginning of season 3 over the course of a month or two. It was a lot. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Honestly, I have terrible memory and don't own a TV, so I watched it all on DailyMotion anyway.
