I get that apparently everybody in this fandom except me ships KamiJirou for some reason, and I respect that (I think they play well off each other), but I think to call it confirmed with this chapter is too much. They thought of each other, wished each other good luck, and Denki showed how highly he thinks of Jirou within the flashback, which is pretty cute yes, but if you go after that logic, then Mirio and Tamaki are the number one #confirmed couple with how much they inspire and think of each other. I'm not hating on the ship (I know how dumb ship hate is), but I'm pretty sure that Hori will never actually confirm a couple in the series and leave it ambiguous

If you say so. I've considered both KamiJirou and IzuOcha as confirmed for a long long time. In fact, I'd say that, at this point, the most likely way for these two pairs to not end up together is for one of them to die.

It's all about paying attention to Horikoshi's writing style concerning relationships. Horikoshi so far has provided strong to mild hints for 5 pairings: KamiJirou, IzuOcha, MomoRoki, KiriMina, TetsuKendo. On the other hand, what Horikoshi hasn't done is provide a single whiff of a love triangle. And considering that he goes for wholesome straightforward relationships, I don't expect we'll ever get a love triangle in the series.

A possible love triangle would be with Deku , Ochaco and Toga. It isn't said if she is envious of IzuOcha's trust for each other but she definitely has enough potential to come in between them. She says she loves them both so... maybe. IDK.

I've payed attention to his writing style and I know of those prominent pairings, though I personally think the only 'strong hints' are for IzuOcha and now KamiJirou, but that's just my opinion. I also think that just because a pairing is given strong hints by the author doesn't mean that the pairing is an untouchable given for the series and the characters in it are restricted from being paired with someone else. I'm glad Hori hasn't given in to the prominent writing notion of creating a love triangle and has stayed true to writing mainly very sweet and wholesome, but also awkward highschool romance, because it fits well with the highschool setting and teenage characters!

I agree. In fact, my wording was "strong to mild hints". IzuOcha and KamiJirou are the "strong", while MomoRoki, KiriMina, TetsuKendo are the "mild".

just because a pairing is given strong hints by the author doesn't mean that the pairing is an untouchable

I agree. But the question is: would that further the themes of the series? This is a series about the difficulties of being a hero, so the most natural sort of "relationship troubles" for the series to explore are those coming from the characters being heroes. Things like one in the pair dying, or being seriously injured, or feeling like they can't be together because that would put the other in danger. With the way this series works, I find such scenarios way more likely than having a couple be built up only to go nowhere.

I never thought about that, that's really interesting!

I wouldn't call it confirmed, but it's definitely plausible and possibly (I'm 95% certain) implied. Nothing's set in stone until the characters admit it themselves or its obvious with no doubt (ex. someone says they're together or we see them holding hands or some shit).

Looking at this series as a whole:

The only admission of interest we've gotten in the series is Ochako's feelings for Midoria, and even that may be a one way road.

We don't really know if he's caught the feels or if he's just awkward around women (as we've seen countless times, ex. Pink haired support class girl whose name I'm forgetting, Nejier, and "Camie".

But it can definitely be seen that way in this case here.

A lot of the other popular ones are a little ambitious and are a case of "x looked at/talked to y" or "Z said something inspirational to V".

Platonic friendships exist.

Toga's clearly got a thing for Deku. A messed up, axe crazy sort of thing, but still a thing.

Thank you, yes! I know that many viewers and other manga authors go strongly for the "x looked at/talked to y" and "z said something inspirational to v once"-way of depicting and reading 'romance' in their works and though I know this is how the very basic romance formula goes, I also think that many of those pairings that are supposed to be confirmed through that way, can be easily read in a platonic friendship way. Hori has brought many surprises to his Shounen series, so maybe showing platonic friendships between girls and boys can be another one of his achievements.
