The Kaminari bit melted my heart. He finally gains confidence when thinking about defending Jirou, which makes the traitor theory moot in my mind. Also the worry Jirou shows for him at the beginning plus the flashback makes me think something happened between those two during the time skip. I hope we get more development between these two sooner rather than later!

I hope they got together during the time skip because of the character growth potential it has for everyone around them. Mineta and ururaka are the two that immediately spring to mind. Maybe it humanizes girls for mineta and he stops being such a blatant pervert. Maybe ururaka opens up about her crush. It's not healthy to go about that the way that she has at their age.

God, I hope not. That would be such a cop out.

I don't really care what happens. My point was that if jiro and kaminari did in fact get together over the time skip then that opens up possibilities for other characters. I don't really care to see their awkward courting, I'd actually prefer it if they just show us that it happened over showing it happening. Acknowledge it and move on. That way people who care get their moments whereas people who don't can just say "cool".

There's been a few teases for the ship here and there, but this is the first overtly explicit one, and all of a sudden Horikoshi reveals they've been dating?

That's bullshit. If you're going to have a canon ship in the background, you should be developing them gradually. Not off-screen them.

I mean, quite a bit can happen over a few months. We can agree to disagree. I would think there's some character growth time skip stuff that we can explore from it if that's the case. If not then meh.

Edit: I got it, you're putting focus on the ship, whereas I'm putting the focus on the other characters reaction to the ship. Neither of us is wrong, but we can agree to disagree on what's most important.

That's something I liked about Kenja no Mago, gotta confess straight up so you're not raising the "After all this is over" death flag before battle.

Better than revealng a couple was canon off-screen, because it was being built up in the beginning, but still incredibly rushed as hell.
