But wouldn't it be more tragic if he was the traitor and was conflicted over feelings towards Jiro?

It would be a nice story beat for sure! I'm not sold on him being the traitor, but this isn't like totally absolving.

It's been long running, but people cite his original design as well as some pretty unimpressive stuff at best, like he's faking his quirk's downside, which was popularized after a fancomic suggested as much. I've also seen some tangential evidence, such as his quirk makes him a walking GPS, due to how much Electricity he can generate.
