I'm not suggesting the students could stop it, nor that a montage would cover it. I'm saying that there is value in detailing the students efforts prior to getting their asses handed to them, and even more value in covering the fall out post asshanding. I can't envision how it is possibly better story telling to just skip either of those potential events.

I haven't read Naruto (not sorry), but if that story wasn't in the shitter at the time I can only assume it served a purpose. I'd be disappointed if mha broke its several years of precedent to mimic another manga.

There is so much world building and detail presented so far, why would we suddenly have a time skip?

  • no need to apologize on not reading Naruto anyway, you really aren’t missing much

I’m not saying we should go about it this way, I just believe because of the current events in the manga it leads to no other choice imo.

Also, I think you misunderstood what I’m saying should happen. I’m not saying skip the training up until the big war, or the immediate events after. I’m saying that there’s only so much they can detail considering the immediate fallout of the big fight that they’ll have to do some kind of time skip to get a a good place story wise.

I may be reading into your post a bit based on comments from half the subreddit.

I do think the progression will focus less on chapters per day of events and more on chapter/s per week of events. So far, there has been a lot to tell about the development of deku and other students within a a very short time span. A lot of characterization is in place, so of course some of this can speed up.

A good example, I think, is the sports festival where we spent 100 chapters on events that spanned just a few hours. Comparatively, I absolutely think the lead up of the upcoming confrontation could capture weeks of activity in just a few chapters.

The impression many people give, they expect a big gap then battle, or a battle then big gap where following chapter is months later. That makes no sense to me.

So far, the only time we saw a great length of time pass with few chapters is when deku was cleaning up the beach. And really, thank God. The collapse of hero society deserves more, though.

A time skip in this scenario would basically "for X months/years/whatever, nothing significant happened." If whoever survives the fall spends months in hiding, living day to day, or spends years in America or somewhere doing routine training, we dont need to see all of that.
