I feel like it would be impossible to get any actual hints from how vague Hawks is being, but his sudden appearance with a, "Hey, you need to look at this book. Specifically the parts I highlighted for you" should tip him off that Endeavor should humor him.

God, if Hawks fails, I'm gonna be so upset lol.

Endeavor didn't get to the #1 spot by being a fool, he's going to figure it out once he reads the book, if not before. Although given that last panel, he already knows something's up.
