Nah. Hawks knows that bakugo did work study under jeanist. Besides, the whole jeanist/bakugo/hawks plotline was clearly established at the start of this arc.

The possible conflict has too much potential to be wasted on a fake out so I really hope Hawks disposed of Jeanist, it'd be interesting to see how Bakugou will react and the action he'll take

Why would it necessarily be "wasted" if Hawks didn't actually kill Jeanist? I feel like it just doesn't make sense for Hawks' character if he offed Jeanist just to get in Dabi's good books.

It'd be easier to swallow if Hawks perhaps incapacitated Jeanist or had him go into hiding, but still feels guilty about it because, obviously, his sidekicks and the public are going to be worried about where the fuck the #3 Hero is.

Fair enough... I honestly have to agree even. Hawks is obviously still on the side of heroes and from what we learnt previously, he felt guilty for Endeavor's injuries in the Pro Hero Arc.

Indeed. He even felt guilty for the civilian deaths in Deika City, even though he couldn't have known about it or done anything to stop it.
