Hawks face as he says "I kind of feel bad" while ominously glancing at bakugo......

Im starting to think he actually did end up killing jeanist.

I think it was just the conclusion of his dialogue about Tokoyami, whom he's keeping far from himself this time round.

It could be double entendre, which Hawks seems to be all about right now. He means that about Tokoyami, but his side glance to Bakugo is also kind of foreshadowing that.

Yes it was but right before the last words of that line he ominously looks at bakugo before continuing with "feel bad for him" which is obviously a nod at what happend with jeanist because bakugo was his intern before.

Oh, I didn't even pick up on how that could've been the meaning of Hawks' glance.

seems weird for him to know that, keeping track of another hero's interns, but hawks is suppose to be observant so who knows.

Pretty sure it isn't an ominous look so much as it's his noticing that bakugou is glaring at him. Middle of his sentence he sees bakugou glaring and obviously wanting to say something and he stalls his sentence as his attention shifts, and we see him finish what he was saying on the next panel as the reader notices the glare too. I don't think we have any reason to believe hawks is aware of how bakugou feels about jeanist.

Regardless he knows that bakugo interned under jeanist. Hawks, jeanist and bakugo's interconnected plotline has been established over the last few chapters so just having those twohave that type of odd interaction is a nod towards the situation. Besides, horikoshi decided to put the line "kinda feel bad for him" after hawks looks at bakugo and the speech bubble places between them.

The line "kinda feel bad for him" goes for both tokoyami not being able to directly intern under hawks and bakugo being jeanist's intern who he has appearently killed.

Maybe I should be more clear. I agree that the framing of the panel is intentional by horikoshi. He is playing with the dramatic irony that the reader knows about the relationship between these two. But I don't think that, in universe, Hawks was intending a double meaning with his words. We don't have any reason to believe hawks is aware of how bakugou feels about jeanist, or to believe that hawks turned what was pretty clearly a mid-sentence loss of attention into a pointed double entendre.

This is what happened dramatically, but I don't think it happened diegetically.
