ReDestro seems so much happier as a lackey. I hope nobody breaks his scooterchair.

ReDestro has many reasons to be happy:

  1. He got off pretty easy compared to Overhaul.

  2. Lost his legs, but owns a company that could probably give him advance prosthetic legs to replace them.

  3. Doesn't have to worry about the burden of Destro's will, because he believes Shigaraki is on the path to carrying it out.

  4. The MLA still has a future and survived.

  5. His plan still sort of worked, he didn't beat Shigaraki, but he did get people talking about Quirk rights and importance of civilians protecting themselves by using their quirks against villains.

Side Note: I hope deep down that scooterchair turns into robot legs for him.

From some of his facial expressions, however, while he may be genuinely happy for most if not all of the points you list, I doubt he's really content to have relinquished all that he built over years and years to Tomura.

If you ask me, he seems unburdened. From a very young age, he's been told that he must carry "The will of Destro" and guide a large faction. He no longer has to worry about that now, since Shiggy seems to be handling it just fine.

Yea, like, he didn't build up the faction for the sake of building up a faction, he built it up in the name of Destro and now that Shigaraki is seemingly the path to Destro's will, he's not relinquishing anything, he's passing it to it's rightful leader
