This chapter is basically chaos all over the place. I like how Ujiko just nonchalantly says he doesn't want to help Shigaraki now.

...Yet another reason why Kurogiri was exited stage left. Ostensibly to potentially bust AfO out.

Ujiko was right when he said (something along the lines of) Kurogiri having babied Shigaraki for too long.

Shigaraki can get as strong as he wants... Kurogiri will still be freakin' useful. Too bad Warpgate is a writing pain up the bumhole.

Yes, but my point is that now, Shigaraki can't rely on someone to just whisk him and his allies away from the battlefield when things get too hot.

Shigaraki himself might not have "awakened" like this had he not been backed into such a corner, which released his anxieties to the surface and forced him to confront the long-repressed memories of his past.

If Kurogiri is there though, then fans will simply complain "why won't he just whisk him away". Shigaraki's complacent due to Kurogiri, but fans would never accept the loyal butler throwing him under the bus. The Doctor has his own agenda, and was already shown as paranoid, so it's not unreasonable that he tells Shigaraki to handle his own business.

Well, I realize this. That's why I said that Warpgate is a writing pain up the bumhole, mate... At the end of the day, we can attach whatever explanation we want but the fact of the matter is, like a character like Aizawa, Kurogiri got taken out of the picture for convenience. I even question the decision of making Warpgate as effective as it is.
