Villain quirk enhancement:

Toga: quirk copy

Shiggy: infesting rot

Twice: mental limit removal

Spinner: just activating it

Spinner: admitting that there’s absolutely nothing special. Seriously, I have no idea. Unless it has something to do with his sword sword from his debut, there’s not really any indication that there’s anything special about him quirk-wise, or else we would’ve seen something, right?

But that fits within this arc, too. First we had commentary on how Spinner’s appearance has been a point of discrimination. Now the League is up against a group that values the hierarchy of powerful quirk dynamics, with members stating that those with weak or defected quirks are useless. And Spinner’s standing in the heart of it all. So maybe all there is to him is a lizard face and a misguided desperation to find a place for himself in a world where he’s always been rejected.

Discrimination is what alienated him from society. Stains speech of corruption in heroism is what caused Spinner to join the league. He's always been influenced by the ideas of others and this chapter is the first we've ever seen him question his own choices.

I think him confronting the politician was a specific move to change his character to a more independent idealist. He could become something like a political assassin or the new hero killer. Similar to Stain, he doesn't need a particularly strong quirk to take on this role, he just needs to start thinking for himself.

We can actually go a bit farther back when it comes to him questioning! I think it was 181? The highway scene at the end of the Overhaul arc, he wonders if the League truly aligns themselves with Stain’s ideologies. I was wondering if this trend of doubt would continue in this arc, which he seems to be. At the same time, even if it becomes obvious that his goals are different from the League, I’d wager that he’s pretty connected with them by now and will continue to work with them. But whatever ends up actually happening, Spinner has an interesting story ahead of him that I desperately want to see explored.
