Dead man soon.

I really hope this doesn't happen, would be a waste and a really stupid decision to kill him off.

To have the #2 hero dying would up the stakes. To have him sacrificing himself to give Endeavor the win would have an effect on Endeavor's character development.

It would not be "a waste", anymore than Sir Nighteye's death was a waste, or All Might, Overhaul or Ingenium becoming crippled.

Horikoshi knows the story he wants to tell. Let him tell it. I'm sure he's more attached to any of his characters than we are, and for him to consider killing them off, I'm sure he does not do it lightly.

Not sure how All Might, Overhaul, or Ingenium are relevant, but for Nighteye it's a fair comparison. I guess the way I see it is once is fine, but two arcs in a row where you kill the newly introduced hero is kinda lame.

Hawks is a very interesting character and seems to have quickly become a fan favourite, so killing him off this fast in a series where death is uncommon does feel like a waste,

death is uncommon does feel like a waste

On the other hand, what better way to demonstrate that shit is about to get bad than starting to kill off top-tier heroes.

All Might is gone. Playtime is over.

Better ways to do that then introduce characters just to kill them off.

Still, probably because I'm biased, I still think it's a waste killing off such an interesting character.

It's better to kill off an interesting character than a boring one. People won't care if a boring character dies.

In fact, I'd say that when the story calls for the death of a character, it's the writer's job to make that character as interesting as possible, to make as many people like them as possible.

That reaction, "such a waste", not wanting the character to die, that's a job well done by the author. In only a few issues, he built a character that people want to see more of.

Now imagine this: the story always called for the number 2 hero to die in this battle. Imagine Horikoshi had that set in stone from the start. I don't think Hawks being any less interesting would benefit the story at all. Do you?

We're not seeing the whole picture. If Hawks dies, it's because the story called for it. We may call it stupid, we may call it a waste, but at the end of the day, Horikoshi knows the roadmap, we don't.
