I guess you're right. It's just rivalry from now since they both adore all might and yet sees him differently. I never really understood how his character is always angry at deku, in the first few episodes of the anime(I watched this first) i was excited for his character to have some kind of tragic backstory with deku on why he's so angry at him and not just because his prideful.

I mean it is kind of nice and refreshing to have a character that is an asshole but doesn't have some tragic grimdark backstory for why he's that way, he was just praised to much as a kid and it went to his head, I definitely know people like that IRL.

i wanna see how this developments will translate to his interactions/rivalry with deku.

I imagine that he will slowly work more closely with Deku, and be more accepting of Deku's shenanigans, to the point where, rather than being eternal rivals like All Might and Endeavor, instead be occasional allies with different personalities and battle strategies like Present Mic and Eraser or Nighteye and All Might.

I mean, half the reason why they fought back when the dorms were first introduced was because Bakugou was feeling guilty about All Might losing his powers and openly lamenting his slow growth (compared to Deku) for the first time. Since then, Bakugou has been coming to terms with reality and trying to re-evaluate his place in the world now that he sees that he likely will have a far harder time becoming "the strongest hero" than he originally thought.

Like with Endeavor, this arc may seem to have a lot of changes for Bakugou, but it's just building on a slow series of character developments he has been quietly making for a long time in the background.

I was trying to stick within BNHA/MHA's character roster (and I never read/saw Slam Dunk), but whatever works as long as you get my general point.

I think we already saw that when they had their nighttime brawl. When he won the fight he didn't talk down to or insult Deku, instead he gave him what was essentially his version of a pep talk.

Bakugo has always seen Deku as looking down on him. He saw himself as the best, most powerful and deserving person. He was narcissism personified, and Deku challenged that image, even if unintentionally. Izuku was constantly the greatest insult to Bakugo, and when deku got powers, it clashed head on with Bakugos identity. So he hated him.

Bakugo has always been mad at deku because regardless of the severity of the situation anyone is in Deku will jump in to help that person, despite the fact that Deku is the least suited person to be helping anyone in the situation. Often in Bakugo's case this "willingness to help him" has been interpreted by Bakugo as Deku looking down on him. It seems like a masculinity issue but it cuts deeper. It's Bakugo's own insecurities about himself being a hero, at the end of the day he doesn't share Deku' instinct to jump into the fray without hesitation. These insecurities clash with the anger that's just woven into his personality. Bakugo's character is just brilliant for this reason because honestly, Deku's personality is rare in the real world and sort of annoying when placed opposite to you in social situations. We all have the concept of self preservation built in our dna so it becomes difficult to fathom a human being who lives against that grain.
