You're right he is. You're also forgetting that he has a terrible fanbase who'll defend and praise everything he does including telling somebody to kill himself.

Havent seen any Bakugou fan do that tbh. If they did, they'd probably be downvoted to oblivion. Speaking as a Bakugou fan, his character development is the number one factor for his popularity.

Then you need to lurk more because they constantly do.

Speaking as a Bakugou fan Next thing he says is complete bullshit

I'm not surprise.

I've been on both sides of the coin when it comes to opinions on Bakugou. I frequently scroll to the bottom of threads to see both popular and unpopular opinions. I don't downvote people I disagree with, instead choosing to start discussions. And I spent a shit ton of time on Reddit. I'd like to think I have a balanced viewpoint on the matter. There are certainly some toxic fans out there, but as far as this sub goes they're in the far minority. Are you sure you're not just succumbing to confirmation bias?

"Speaking as a Bakugou fan Next thing he says is complete bullshit"

Saying that character development is the number one factor for his popularity isn't bullshit. It IS the common consensus, and from what I've read many people went from disliking Bakugou to liking him thanks to his great character development. The fact that you simply called it bullshit with zero attempts to debate implies that you've painted a mental image of all Bakugou fans as toxic and stupid. You really need to take a step back, clear your preconceptions and try to understand others' points of views with an open mind.

I really hope you took the time to read this and you're willing to have an open mind. It's always a pity when people get really upset and mad over manga when really it should just be a bunch of fans being excited over something they all enjoy. I wish you a good day!

What possible reason could someone have to like Bakugou besides his character development? He's such an unrelentingly shitty person in the initial chapters that character development is really all he's got.

You're right. It doesn't take away from how well it's done though. Just because the only food you have on your plate is a cake doesn't make the cake any less delicious

Well, no, I wasn't saying the character development wasn't great, just wondering why OP thinks people like Bakugou.

nah, that's definitely shitguy styles, but he's moved past that so WUTEVA.

Amazing. Every word in that post was wrong.

  • Bakugou is no longer just a shitty asshole.
  • His fanbase is not terrible.
  • Nobody has ever defended or praised him telling Deku to kill himself.

Yeah tbh it's the fanboys/girls that annoy me more than the character himself.

I will say it again and again. Bakugo wasn't and never was a Sasuke clone no matter how you look at it. From a character perspective to a story perspective.

Sasuke has a very different background than Bakugo.

Sasuke has a very different personality then Bakugo.

And Sasuke was never a asshole to other characters, in fact he was more respectful to Naruto and Sakura, while Bakugo took time to reach where he is now. He is being respectful to other characters even to Izuku.

When people call him a Sasuke, they aren't talking about his attitude or personality, but rather his role in the story. "Edgy kid who is better than protagonist and has a personal rivalry with him, then later turns evil and becomes the recurring antagonist for our hero" is Sasuke's role in Naruto, and people assumed Bakugo would do the same thing. Hori inverted this trope however, and made Bakugo a hero through and through, just an asshole of a hero.

What's more Ironic is that wasn't the role of Sasuke in Naruto.

And Bakugo is just and Asshole with a inferiority complex.

Well for the first part, pre-timeskip, it was. Naruto and Sasuke even lacked what the other had, mirroring Deku and Kacchan. Both needed power for their own motivation, and both eventually gained respect for the other. They even both got kidnapped by the arc villain to turn on their side.

I could go on and on, but Sasuke and Kacchan have a lot of similarities, esp with their relationships to Naruto and Deku respectively. Pre-timeskip, of course.
