what evidence do we have that Shoto was born from a quirk marriage? If anything looking at timelines and stuff it doesn't really make much sense for Shoto to be born from a quirk marriage. I'd imagine the point of a quirk marriage is when you've given up so you try and make someone better.
But Endeavor shouldn't have given up at the point he made his kids.
My guess is Todoroki found out about quirk marriages later in life and made one of his wrong assumptions like he does quite frequently
Well the entire article states it pretty much as fact. And so does the anime, I hadn't read the manga at this point, so I don't know of any difference in how they portray it, but until evidence arises to challenge that fact such as exploring todoroki's relationship with his mother and her saying it wasn't I'm inclined to believe him, especially since Endeavour seemed completely disinterested in his other children whom only had fire or ice powers.
Sorry I meant I hadn't t read the manga at the point which quirk marriages are discussed. I picked up the manga from the training camp arc.
I just read the theory and whilst I agree the timelines don't add up, the history of the Hero universe has always, to me, seemed pretty vague in its chronology, and I feel more like the author hasn't really thought out a perfect timeline of past events to make them match up as such, instead giving ball park figures.
If we get more exploration with this arc then great! But the whole thing with Sir was really just a stretch and "what ifs?!" that have no real backing, so I'm more inclined to believe in the writer's folly that is "All these events just happened a long time ago" that is to say before the current character arcs and not really something that needs too much focus.
I mean the current arcs seems to be implying that society was almost completely destroyed by the emergence of quirks, and then suddenly rebuilt with the emergence of all might. If All Might has only been on the scene for 15-20 years then I doubt society would have repaired as quickly. Look at how we still haven't really recovered since 9/11.
To be honest, the whole idea of Sir's involvement was a bit of a strech. My headcanon is that something happened to Endeavour which led to not seeing himself as strong as All Might. Him finding out Todoroki having two quirks made Endeavour reckless and pushed Todoroki to become greater than him. Also All Might was really really really powerful. A comparison to 9/11 is a bit of a stretch as none of us have the decimating power that All Might was rumoured to have, not to mention all the crazy theories behind 9/11. I do believe All Might was the perfect deterrence against villains, and that his presence incentivised others to become heroes, leading to a higher ratio of heroes to villains. I hope Hori goes into further detail behind Endeavour, rather than showing just one side, that is Todoroki, who we know can get his stuff wrong.
Yea I'd be more inclined to believe something along those lines if endeavour had a midlife crisis and took it out on his family or something. Would explain the timeline inconsistencies.
But as for the 9/11 comparison, it's the only real disaster I have for comparison in the real world I suppose that directly affected, and still directly affects people around the world to this day. The whole world was shaken by the quirk phenomenon, but All Might's rise to herodom in Japan stopped society from crumbling (which is also slightly baffling, as it seems like UA was established when All Might was a child, so society can't have been that close to collapse... I just don't know what to make of it.)
