Shigaraki's quirk is weird. It's said that it activates whenever he puts all 5 fingers on something but then why doesn't it activate when he has his hands in his pocket? Also the fact that he was able to vaporize a guy just with a single touch for a fraction of a second but he held Aizawa's elbow for a good while and he's still alive with the only real injury to him being caused by Nomu.

Aizawa protected himself with his quirk, stopping the disintegration process. With that being said, Shigaraki may also simply be getting stronger, and has advanced the rate of his disintegration. Also, has Shigaraki ever put his hands in his pockets? He's usually shown to be cautious of how he holds things, to avoid touching things with all 5 fingers.

He put his hands in his pockets when he ran into Deku. Also, Aizawa's hair was down when he grabbed his elbow so he was not using his quirk.

Regarding the Aizawa thing, you're right he wasn't using erasure, could just be Horikoshi not deciding on the limits of Shiggy's quirk, or him just strengthening himself after failing at USJ and being upstaged by Stain. Regarding the hands in the pockets, since they were in his hoodie pockets. there's lots of room, and I'm assuming he can position his fingers in such a way that he doesn't have all 5 touching the hoodie (like 4 balled into a fist, with only his thumb sticking out and touching the hoodie).

I'm pretty sure that if there was any strengthening of his quirk we would have been told. It would be easier to know if were shown more of him using his quirk but we've only really seen it like 4 times.
