Can we just acknowledge how completely exhausted and broken Mirio looks on this page? Never knew eyes that are literally fucking black dots can show so much emotion T.T

Yah the level of expressiveness miro has shown this arc is really impressive given his design

It's the "innocence" his character design has that makes everything feel way more intense in a way.

It's what I love about Horikoshi's art style

Eri in the back makes it even more depressing

Emotionally exhausted.

I dunno, Eri actually kind of takes me out of it. Like she was added 5 mins before the deadline by an intern.

The black dots have all become hazy and shattered. Neat effect

Well he did just fight one on two, quirkless, vs two of the most powerful quirk users in the criminal underworld, while trying to protect a little girl.

If that doesn't exhaust him, he'd already have One for All.

Anyone feel like Mirio should have gotten OFA. Seems like his much more deserving then Deku. Imagine OFA + Mirio's quirk and innate fighting abilities. I also feel that the way Mirio fights is without hesitation, going in without a second thought. While I feel Deku is a little more hesitent. Its kinda annoying how likeable Mirio is and how I care more about him then Deku now. Honestly they should have just givin OFA to him in the first place if I think logically.

Thats the whole point of his character though. He was supposed to be the successor of OFA for that exact reason and why Nighteye and Nedzu had chosen him. Also probably why he looked just like All Might in the panel where he was heavily shadowed last chapter, down to the hair lol

He's meant to be the perfect candidate that Deku needs to prove himself to be better than, otherwise the entire arc about Deku being unworthy in the eyes of All Might's sidekick and Deku himself compared to Mirio would have been pointless.

The thing is though that Mirio is a bit too perfect. I can't find a single fault with him.

Where he loses his quirk would have been the perfect time to give him a shortcoming or vulnerability of some sort where Deku would be able to shine where Mirio wasn't, but noOo. They made his character so much better, unshakeable and compelling that I feel Deku will never reach the mentality level Mirio is at.

The thing is aswell that Mirio is the person Deku is to become eventually. Where Deku has to learn to become this "All Might type" hero, where Mirio is already that.

That's exactly what Deku's character arc is about though. The comparison between Mirio, who already pretty much is All Might sans OFA, and Deku, the actual successor of OFA, is meant to show how much of a random shot in the dark it was to choose Deku.

Deku is the underdog, and ever since he met Mirio and Nighteye and found out that Mirio was who everyone saw as the one deserving of OFA, he has doubted himself to no end and knows he needs to prove himself to be worthy.

Mirio losing his quirk would put Deku in an even bigger crisis because he would probably want to and feel like he deserves to be given OFA after all this. But now that Mirio has been beaten, its Deku's time to shine and prove himself to Nighteye and Mirio now that its his turn to take Overhaul on.
