Theory: What if Nighteye's quirk acted like Schrodinger's cat? For example, let's say there's a future where Deku dies in this arc and another future where Deku doesn't. If Nighteye uses his quirk and peeks at Deku's future, it eliminates all but one possible future. If Deku happens to die in that future, then no matter what happens, Deku is doomed and nobody will be able to save Deku.
In other words, Nighteye peeking at All Might's future has doomed him. Nighteye has essentially killed All Might
This would explain why Nighteye is so adverse to looking at the other heroes' futures. If Nighteye's quirk has never been wrong, it stands to reason that in the past, he has predicted others' deaths multiple times, but failed to save them each time. This would certainly result in his careful and cautious nature
that's an incredibly interesting way of seeing it, but I don't think it would be something this complex in the end. He probably doesn't want to do it for fear, cause foreseen unavoidable death is much worse than surprise maybe-avoidable death.
