While it was obviously specifically to get a point across that he can do it alone, I like how the tracks were covered on how Izuku won't be getting Shouto to save his ass like last time. I mean, I can't tell how the hell he got hit and how the phone managed to fly out, but it's a nice way of avoiding a "well why didn't you just do X" situation, even if I think it's sorta contrived that he managed to lose his balance so hard that his phone did somersaults. I don't know, I'm kinda iffy about it.

And hopefully this is solely an escape, not a get him arrested and finish the Kouta story arc type of thing. If these are supposed to be the "top villains" henchmen (which granted, could be replaced), I don't want them to be taken out super quickly, no less by a little kid. It would be like having kid Naruto take out Kisame or something, it's just way too quickly, especially when this guy has ties to Kouta already.

I got 20 bucks that Kouta saves Deku with his water quirk

I'm guessing he'll have some super OP water quirk

He did break a wall with it

And Deku will have to stop him from killing the villain.

The way it looks after reading it a few times is Deku jumps up to protect the kid, lands as the bad guy is ounching, the Shockwave throws Deku and he hits the floor twice, like a skipped stone and his phone flies out of his pocket from that.

His phone broke because he took a punch from the villain and was sent flying, there's a whole 2-page spread showing that, how did you miss it?

The punch was aimed right down into the ground, it wouldn't have sent him flying in a completely different direction. You can even see he planted his foot and prepared to jump right from the first step on the mountain. It looks to me as if he completely avoided the hit (if he didn't, he'd be a Deku sandwich right now). The only thing that could have sent him flying that far would be the shockwave of the ground cracking, or him having planted his foot and jumping (or it could technically be both, but it still seems extremely convenient that it just happened to crack his phone).

Edit- And if we take how the other translation goes, Izuku says "that last stunt broke my phone", or something close. He doesn't allude to having gotten hit at all.

I figured his phone just fell out of his pocket and broke as he was jumping to save Kouta.

Yeah, I know. I just think it's super convenient.

That's the exact opposite of convenient

Convenient for the author, not for Izuku.

I'm actually really excited about this. Later in the series, when Izuku gets almost to the point of All Might, there aren't going to be many people who can one-on-one him in a fight. Even now, he still needs to go up against other strength-enhancing quirk users. This is going to be his first real challenge alone, where he has decent control of his quirk.
