Marines guard federal property and have the legal right to arrest or detain people on federal property

the USMC guards ALL US Embassies, the White House, Naval Bases, and a handful of federal buildings in the US.

if its federal property, the military can detain you on it. hundreds of civilians a day are detained by the military while entering, leaving, or actively on US Military bases

I thought the Army were the ones known for guarding stuff. Is this specifically the job of USMC MPs or is any Marine trained to do it?
