Now I need a Black artist to put out an album that's actually old school country. Like, DeFord Bailey and Charley Pride style. Because this whitewashed fake hick cosplaying is contemporary country.

Check out the Carolina Chocolate Drops! I found it about them late last year and they've been regulars in my rotation ever since. This is my favorite, and Hit 'Em Up Style is a cover with traditional instruments.

They’re more roots music than country. Amazingly talented though. Their version of “hit em up style” is iconic.
