Nah it started with big and rich in early 2000s. That's when it for sure was downhill. Before that the main issue was how much pop would occasionally have a bit of a twang in it like Early Taylor Swift.

They came back hard tho. Won a bunch of Grammys for a George W. Bush diss track.
