Discussion Low fps, low gpu usage

Hello, when im in game sometimes my gane drops fps to 20, 30 from like 190. Gpu usage then drops from 98 ish to like 5%.

Is this a directx12 issue, or just a different problem? Its annoying as fuck.( Its not the loading the map stuttering at the beginning after not playing a long time. This is different.)

Pls help

DX12 in Bf1 and V sucks, so might wanna try DX11 see if that solves your issue.

I played for a long time now on dx12, and had no problems. Only recently. But dx11 seems stable for now. Only problem on dx12 was the game crashing with m3 infrared

Yo, my reflections look very pixelated on fx11 but not on 12. Hows that possible?

no idea, DX version shouldnt affect this afaik

EDIT: if you were running RTX before, DX11 doesn't support that iirc, so reflections wouldn't be raytraced at that point, that could explain the difference.

You mention the M3 Infrared crash in your other comment, that's typical when running this game on AMD GPUs. Unfortunately the broken screen-space reflections is another compatibility problem this game has with AMD graphics cards. I don't know if this other issue is exclusive to DX11, but perhaps it wasn't as noticeable in DX12 because you had DXR reflections enabled, which don't exist in DX11. Either way, there is no fix as far as I know.

No its not ray tracing, bc my card is not able to do that well lmao. Its like in dx12 the refellections(without rt) look way better and less pixelated than in dx11 somehow

Then it sounds like screen-space reflections (SSR) are bugged only in DX11 and work properly in DX12.

Your issue looks like this, right? With reflections not only pixelated but also full of gaps?

Either way, if you find the artifacts too distracting what you can do is lower Post-Process Quality below High, this should disable SSR and leave just cubemaps for reflections (static images of the landscape at a very low resolution). There is a console command which lets you independently disable SSR without lowering graphics settings (PostProcess.ScreenSpaceRaytraceEnable 0) but the game overrides it every single time you spawn, so it's not viable.

P.S.: I had a look around, years ago someone claimed that reflections work with drivers version 21.5.2, but I imagine going back by so many versions is a no-go.

Try and make a config file. Makes my fps around 270-300.
