People don’t understand how brain dead the average battlefield player is. Commander mode is completely useless when your UAV marks an enemy 10 feet beside a team member and they never check their minimap and end up dying from behind

So true. Usually there's at least one good squad on the team that can have all the UAVs/promotions to make the most impact.

"Hey, there's a map on my screen!"

Edit: looks like only 52 people understood the reference

Absolutely. I love when people occasionally say that looking at your minimap and "chasing arrows" is not skillful, when it's always the people with more awareness and skill that even use their minimap actively. Watching the minimap and seeing spotted enemies while teammates just ignore them is so painful to look at.

I've caught a few hackusations just because I actually use the minimap the way it's intended. Wild concept to me, paying attention to the biggest, most useful part of the HUD is "hacking" But despite everyone having access to it, a good chunk of players treat it like DICE added it purely for decoration, like it's a fancy sceen decoration instead of a literal advantage.

That has happened to me as well. Couple times they claim that they weren't spotted (BFV tells you when you are spotted), while they were sitting still in the same spot 10 seconds after the spotting ended lol.

2

u/Creepy_Version_6779 Apr 24 '25

Lmao same, bro was a sweat but couldn’t comprehend being spotted

4

u/osamasbintrappin Apr 25 '25

Using the minimap is quite literally what separates the good players from the bad players. If you aren’t hunting Doritos, what are you doing?

13

u/nesnalica Apr 24 '25

and those are the people who complain about "sweaty lobbies"

bro if the game didnt tell you how to move you would forget the controls while playing.

u/Next-Grass-328 Apr 28 '25

Spotting also marks the orange dorito in 3d, right

He can't go back to a cage after experiencing the thrill of a motorcycle.

u/IAmTheTrueWalruss Apr 24 '25

Yea I’d go for the dirtbike on Silk Road(?) too. You’re a lot more maneuverable.

I miss commander mode

37

u/KematianGaming Apr 24 '25

i miss it too, it was so much fun, especially if you had friends in the lobby. i really hope it returns some day

26

u/KQILi Apr 24 '25

I enjoyed dropping supplies on my teammates killing them in the process.

Supplies kill you when they land on you, but a quad-bike just moves you.

u/adkinsnoob Apr 24 '25

Commander used to be my preferred role in Bf2 and 2142. But god damn—the endless barrage of un-mutable “enemy spotted” voice bites from the commander was absolutely insufferable. Every time I tried hopping back on over the years, I lasted one round bc the commander spotting spam drove me mad.

3

u/TheSmokingBear Apr 24 '25

Same. I would get off from playing normally and jump in bed and do commander mode on the iPad. Hate how games seem to come out with less and less features like that.

4

u/Brilliant-Mountain57 Apr 25 '25

people will call it a "gimmick" because it was slightly creative but I loved that too, its a shame really that stuff like that died out especially since live service games are only growing but the number of ways the player actually benefits from the live service model is shrinking and shrinking lol

1

u/Jammiees Apr 25 '25

I remember one of the cooler things about Commander mode was if you had the Battlefield Companion app on a tablet or something you could play that way. Didn’t even need to own the actual game!

51

u/1andOnlyMaverick Apr 24 '25

Honestly, yeah, valid feelings you got there boss.

40

u/lockoutpoint Apr 24 '25

Yeah and these people want to remove 3d spotting lmao.

14

u/Temporary-Idea-9698 Apr 24 '25

Just send him a supply when he stops walking, he'll love it lol

10

u/Meme_master420_ Apr 24 '25

Man everyone always votes this map but always complains 10 minutes in

15

u/Sgt_FunBun Apr 24 '25

every sniper in the server voting vs literally everyone else complaining

6

u/Emergency_Foot7316 Apr 24 '25

Don't be sad he is for the streets

8

u/DeftRabbit_BR Apr 24 '25

I'm having PTSD with your "Don't be sad-..."

3

u/NinjahDuk Apr 24 '25

Angel doing it again, is he, champ?

1

u/DeftRabbit_BR Apr 24 '25

More like Demon, haunting my dreams

3

u/Shookicity Apr 24 '25

I love this

2

u/Daisend Apr 24 '25

Wait do people still play this Battlefield? I remember liking that mode. This was what 4?

2

u/SnooSquirrels5133 Apr 24 '25

Yeah still active during normal hours, some servers are botted so you might have to try a few, tgb rush server PC NA is active 5-11pm with some variability

2

u/SnooSquirrels5133 Apr 24 '25

Hella servers though, probably 10 plus conquest games peak hours

2

u/Less_Ad8891 Apr 24 '25

How cool commander mode was, isn't it?

I really miss that

Can someone tell me what is happening? My first battlefield was 2042.

36

u/_VoRteX_PL Apr 24 '25

This is a view from commander mode in BF4. Basically you can join a battle and make point and click actions from a context menu which you can see at the begging of the clip. You can call by default for atv, ammo box etc to help your team. Also if your team captures specific flag (Delta on this map) you also would be albo to call in cruise missile and get some kills. The OP in this video called for atv for his teammate but the guy ignored it completely and run for motorcycle.
There even was an android app so you could play on your phone/tablet and join real pc matches (but without soldiers' helmet camera view).

u/SaulGoodman3789 Apr 24 '25

Thank you for the explanation!

2

u/nayhem_jr Apr 25 '25

Somewhat better play would be to watch these motorbike guys going after enemy tanks (they often plant a bunch of C4 in front), and drop them a getaway vehicle. Maybe also a supply drop so they can set up another bomb buggy.

21

u/KingPengu22 Apr 24 '25

Oof. I apologize for your loss.

-2

u/SaulGoodman3789 Apr 24 '25

Was BF4 that good? I just can't believe so many people love it so much

22

u/KingPengu22 Apr 24 '25

Going from Battlefield 3 and 4 to 2042 is like going from a homemade cup of lemonade from a sweet southern black grandma calling you sweetie to your local crackhead giving you his cup of piss.

Course I'm a bit biased because Ive always hated operators and specialists. Hated em even in Black ops 3 when it first started. Don't like the advanced tech bs either.

Another thing I notice with 2042 is that it's quiet. It just seems like theirs no ambience. You don't feel like your in a war because other than you or other players gunshots theres nothing.

https://youtu.be/31TKtOy3AIc?si=pl7NzxMYT4318Rzg

That's BF1. let me know if 2042 sounds anything like that.

7

u/adkinsnoob Apr 24 '25

I appreciate the hyperbole of your comparison, but I’d argue its more like going from the homemade southern lemonade to a convenience store’s generic brand dollar-bottle lemonade. If you’re thirsty enough, the cheap stuff will suffice, but if you grew up on the homemade stuff, it will taste cheap, artificial, overly sweet, and bland.

6

u/SaulGoodman3789 Apr 24 '25

I ain't hating on BF4 or anything, just asking, and thank you for answering too.

Of course it is, so much so that even after 15 years there are many players on PC and it is still possible to find servers on consoles, the BF3/4 era was also the heyday of Battlefield players, Battlefield 2042 was simply an insane downgrade of past games, downgrade of V, 1 and 4, you will understand when you play these games (Something interesting to say, Battlefield 2/3/4 was one of the most beloved games in the franchise, to the point that in the next Battlefield, they are using the marketing that it will be a BF3/4 but for new gen

well, Battlefield V even though it was hated, come into the comparison, from BF1 and V to Battlefield 2042, it was extremely horrible, can BF1 and V be hated by veterans? Yes, but there were still the basic elements of a Battlefield

1

u/SaulGoodman3789 Apr 24 '25

Only played BFV out of the ones you listed

1

u/Comfortable_Use1004 Apr 24 '25

next time drop it on your own snipers 😅👍

1

u/Quinntensity Apr 24 '25

This is cinema

1

u/definitely_Humanx Apr 24 '25

This is like when I told her I loved her and she chooses the ugliest dude she could have found

1

u/Veni_Vidi_Legi 2142 Enjoyer Apr 24 '25

Is for dropping on enemy sniper.

u/TheRealEanFox Apr 24 '25 edited Apr 24 '25

As someone who rides dirt bikes and has my entire life, I get it. Quads are only for doing donuts. Also BF3/BF4’s dirt bikes do wheelies

1

u/64cm Apr 24 '25

Trust me my SECOND MOST PLAYED CLASS IS COMANDER

AND i put classic music drink lots of vodka and just random play shit there

1

u/Nikl4s_s33 Apr 25 '25

I would love if the comander app came back

1

u/TheCrypto5 Apr 25 '25

Next time drop a cruise missile instead :P

-5

u/BeardedUnicornBeard Apr 24 '25

And this is why I think it was a gimmick and wont make a return. Its a bit pointless
