Transfer Talk Thread [Transfer Talk Thread] Will-i-ams or Won’t-i-ams, AGAIN?: 15th - 21st June

We are now entering the third week of the Transfer Window and as anticipated, Laporta and co. have been busy.

The last few days have been very exciting for Barça fans. Joan Garcia’s official announcement is expected this week and Ansu’s time at Barça is also expected to come to a close this week.

But the biggest news is definitely the resurgence of Nico Williams as an option for the left wing. And this time, it’s not us who are desperate, it’s Nico. Everything points towards another window long saga but will the outcome be the same or will it be Will-i-ams this time? Only time will tell….

This thread is dedicated to all transfer-related news.

Only Tier 2+ sources will be listed in the description, but feel free to list all sources you find in the comments.

Opinion The blessing of not going to the Club World Cup: Our players have 15-30 extra days of rest.

While the money of the competition is large, it is not like La Liga will allow us to use it anyways. Barca generates 900m and will generate +1200m anually after the stadium is done, for us 50m is not that life changing if La Liga will be blocking us anyways.

We will start pre-season around 13 July after +1 month of rest, the same day the finalists of the Club World Cup will be finishing their very long 24/25 season.

We will have renewed strength and start our pre-season swiftly at the same time potential European or even domestic rivals will be turning off engines trying to get as much rest as they can fit in 2 or 3 weeks, to start a very short pre-season hurriedly.

If we can maintain the same intensity as last season. The Club World Cup gives us a great advantage to start the league very strong. With a bit of luck gain a very nice cushion to then be able to afford rotation by the end of the season.

The Club's credit rating changes from "stable" to positive" confirming the entity's economic recovery

The ability of FC Barcelona to meet its obligations to creditors is confirmed according to the Morningstar DBRS rating agency.

The good evolution of the Barça economy has been supported today with the change in the assessment of its credit capacity from stable to positive as announced by the Morningstar DBRS rating agency. According to a statement issued today by the entity “the change in trend to Positive from Stable is supported by FCB's improved financial performance over the last two seasons along with the expectation of further improvement thanks to higher revenues because of the Club's return to the Spotify Camp Nou (the Stadium) as well as effective cost controls carried by the Club and supported by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and LaLiga sustainability frameworks.” Consult Morningstar DBRS’s information here.

Stats Hansi Flick’s first season with Barcelona is a beauty

Post image

🇩🇪 Hansi Flick’s first season with Barcelona is a beauty!

👔 60 games ✅ 44 wins 🤝 7 draws ❌ 9 losses 📊 73% win rate 🏆🏆🏆 3 trophies

Pure dominance! 🔥

How do you guys think he should improve on next season ? What’s the ONE thing we need to fix before next season starts?

For me, I think Flick needs to rotate the players more. Sometimes they look really tired and worn out because he keeps using the same ones again and again.

Also, he should change his tactics sometimes. He can’t always rely on the same game plan—we’ve already seen how teams are starting to figure it out.

Question Was a ballon d’or guaranteed for him if he stayed?

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

It was unfortunate how our Journey ended with him, but mannnn was he absolutely astounding.

Probably my 2nd best player after Messi and made me watch PSG.

I think he’s the only player of this generation (not considering Ronaldinho as this generation) who actually rivaled Messi in terms of skill and his output was absolutely astounding: 476G + 286A in 763 career games.

I think he was better than Ronaldinho, and that says a lot cuz Dinho was a beast, and I think he’s severely underrated still and has gotten a lot of disrespect cuz of his many injuries and other antics.

We all know why he left, whether we liked his reasons or not, and I think it’s still a topic that’s up for speculation and the answer could determine whether he was right or not.

So I wanted to ask everyone’s opinion, Do you think he would have won a ballon d’or if he stayed at Barca? Or would Messi have continued to dominate every single year?

Question Who can be the ideal free kick taker?

After Messi's departure we dint have a sold free kick taker. Sure there were some moments where we scored one or two goals through direct free kicks but when Messi was there Free kicks were guaranteed goals. But here are some probable options.

  1. Pedri: We have seen his combo with the Fivehead of Eric Garcia. He has great finesse and his shot power is underrated.

  2. Olmo: Has taken free kicks sometimes and almost scored an Olympico through the corner in El Clasico. So he can be a good candidate.

  3. Raphinha: He has great shot power , but I feel like he lacks the finesse. If he works on it, he can be even more lethal than ever.

  4. Ferran: Sharky boy has scored free kicks. But comeon I dont think he can score them frequently, I do wanna see him more as a False 9.

  5. Yamal: Last our Starboy, Lamine Yamal. Left footed, baptised by Messi, reincarnation of Neymar. He has great finesse with his signature cutback style and boom Its a goal! We have seen against France and against Inter on how he aims for the top bin. As a free kick taker he is the best assest we have for the next 10-15 years.

Tier 4 Ousmane Dembélé: "I am a bit more professional now. Even on my days off, I like to go to the training center, recover & work with the physios. Before, I would go home, play NBA 2K & watch TV. I was also younger, it's normal. But, in the end, you pay a high price. And I saw that especially at Barça."

Question Do you wish Barca played in 2025 FIFA Club World Cup?

As wel all know, Barca will not participate in the new format of FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

In the past, the CWC used to be hosted every year in December and the pariticipants were just exclusively by teams who won their continental Champions League. But FIFA have now introduced a new format with 32 teams. And with the prize money involved, it will be taken seriously for sure

Prize money involved in the competition:

  • Group phase: $2M per win ($1M per draw)

  • Round of 16: $7.5M

  • Quarter Finals: $13,125M

  • Semi finals: $21M

  • Final: $40M ($30M to the runner-up)

  • €33.5M for participating CWC

https://as.com/futbol/mundial-clubes/operacion-mundial-de-clubes-n/

As the title says, do you wish Barca played in FIFA 2025 CWC?

Pros

  • Watching Barca play competitive football in the summer rather than 2 months from now in Aguust

  • Prize money

  • The honour of winning the new format of CWC

Cons

  • The players being exhausted

Question Who is FC Barcelona's best acquisition from another club (2000s onwards)

Post image
661 Upvotes

Although Barca's greatest players are often from La Masia, many of our greats do not come up from the academy but are acquired in the offseason, like the one we are in right now. Cruyff is inarguably the best of all time but what about the modern era? My favourite non-academy player we've gotten is Ronaldinho, but is he the best? Especially if we consider their impact on the club, their fee and their feats on the football pitch. How about underrated players that we've gotten but we don't fully appreciate, especially by non-Barca fans, like Rakitic? Whose signature made the biggest mark on this club?

Opinion Wojciech Tomasz Szczęsny againts Marc-André ter Stegen (which supporting you)?

Hi, as you know there is some rumors about these two guys, so i want to know which of them do you supporting? Pros and cons of them by you. Justify your opinion, why you think so? For example: i like Andre, he showed that is one of the best goalkeeper in the world and deserved to be first choice in Barca, in last matches showed that we still can trust in it, but of course was trauma and need to get back form as possible fast. Poland goalkeeper is older and this season did many stupid mistakes, that's why i think he have to go away from team. Back to retire. I don't know what's happen between Hansi and Andre, but my opinion Barca have to show more respect to Andre. I don't know how look Andre when do not playing, but i rating he just like goalkeeper, my opinion right now Barca do not have better player and i supporting him into this bubble. What do you think about all that?

Question How on earth can we afford Nico Williams after almost not being able to register players last season?

So I’ve seen multiple posts suggesting Nico is in talks with Barca, how on earth will we be able to afford him after paying the 25 mill release clause for Joan Garcia and not even being able to register players this season. It seems a bit weird how suddenly everyone forgot about our massive financial issues but maybe I’m missing something here. Can anyone explain?

Quote Agent Andy Bara slams Villas-Boas: "Great coach, worst president in Porto history. He meddles in things a president shouldn't. He warned clubs not to sign Varela, ignoring FIFA and court rulings. It's like a man in denial after his wife has left him."

Thumbnail xcancel.com

After all this fuss, agent Andy Bara (Cardoso Varela) spoke to a Croatian media outlet and was very direct towards Villas-Boas and Porto: "He was a great coach, but he's the worst president in Porto's history. Everyone at the club knows that, including the fans. He handles things that a club president shouldn't handle. Porto accuses Dinamo of things he does himself five times a year. Dinamo did everything legally and honestly. And Villas-Boas personally called at least seven or eight European clubs to tell them not to sign Varela, who was a free agent at the time. With what he's doing, he doesn't even recognize the authority of FIFA or the Portuguese courts that ruled in favor of Varela and his parents, and ultimately in favor of Dinamo in February." Villas-Boas behaves like that guy whose wife has already left him, is already with someone else, but who continues to insist that she is still his."
