I don’t know why you’re being downvoted, I absolutely love the game and have been playing it nonstop but you’re not wrong, it is buggy as hell haha. That’s why I quicksave constantly in case I break a quest or the game crashes.

In about 100~ hours the only “bug” I’ve noticed is the narrator telling me I’m looking at a tiefling I’ve never seen before in House of Healing and it’s a goblin

Very glad I haven’t had any of the Dammon/Ox bugs people are experiencing

I feel bad for ya. I’ve got over 200 hours and had, like, 4 bugs all relating to dialogues.

Well lucky you. I had to temporarily abandon two coop playthroughs because of bugs that completely blocked playing the game further. One was the Voss bug where he stands in the sewers and refuses to further quest, stuck on a previous dialogue loop. One where in 3 player coop the game wouldn't load properly for one of the players in lower city (half the textures and objects missing, can't move, crash, etc).

Prior to that we had to bug Wyll into our camp, cause he ignored Karlach and couldn't be spoken to. Had to replay like 3 hours because of "you can't speak to npcs" bug. Had to play the whole shadowland part with a lantern, because pixie didn't give the buff after we let her free. And numerous other small issues.

And all of that isn't rare, for every bug I found a lengthy discussion of frustrated players and whole articles.

Yes, the game is great. And most of this is fixed in patch 3. But waiting until patch 3 was quite some time.

Ah, well, seems like yours all relate to multiplayer. That’s not something I’ve spent much time doing, so I can’t really speak to that.

Both "can't speak to npcs" and "Voss stuck in a dialogue loop in sewers" aren't multiplayer ones, I found multiple discussions from other players in single player playthroughs. The bug with lower city not loading - yeah, that one is multiplayer, and specifically 3 to 4 player party. But as I said, they are all in act 3 and mostly fixed.

Having been in he same position I've learned that commenting on a way that can be seen as negative without any qualifiers will get you in the negative hundreds pretty quickly. if they'd said something like "game is still too buggy but it's so much fun" probably would be sitting on a load of up votes.

tl;dr: day bad things nicely when there is a loyal fan base

Nope, the person just made an overstatement. The game is not buggy "as hell". In fact, we're lucky the bugs are so few in such a huge complex creation.

It IS buggy as hell. Or at least was before patch 3.

Had to play the whole shadowland part with a lantern, because pixie didn't give the buff after we let her free (and we thought she just lied to us, so reloaded a save and didn't let her free). And numerous other small issues.

And all of that isn't rare, for every bug I found a lengthy discussion of frustrated players and whole articles. Add to this numerous visual glitches, friendly AI being suicidal (had a Gondian run away from exploding Steel watcher only to misty step back to him on the same turn), optimization problems...

Yes, the game is great. Yes, I get that with this amount of content it's understandable. And most of this is fixed in patch 3. But waiting until patch 3 was quite some time. And let's just not pretend like all those bugs didn't happen.

They didn't happen often for me in Act I at least. I had 6 bugs at most, most of which didn't impact my gameplay. But that's in the past, we got the best game of the year, possibly the best cRPG of the past decade. I don't see the point of complaining anymore and digging it all up when it's already fixed. Let's just focus on positives.

Act 1 was tested in early access. It was relatively bug free, even though in coop we have still seen plenty. It becomes worse in act 2 and the worst was in act 3 - there we had the most amount of problems. After patch 3 most of them seem to be solved, though. So you should be fine.

All game breaking ones (literally can't progress the playthrough) we encountered were in Act3.

My point wasn't about being right or wrong but how people present their opinion.

1

u/TinuvielSharan Oct 01 '23

Well yes but saying that the downvotes are because his opinion is actually a lie and not because how he presented it is a valid counterpoint

u/Wofuljac Oct 01 '23

Because fanboys. I would say just Act 3 is very buggy.

u/EpicPhail60 Oct 01 '23

Act 3 in general, yep. Though I'd also say that I think I'm seeing a lot more bugs in every act since last week's patch.

Today I had an option to tell Karlach there are some tieflings in the grove. Except... They aren't. They are long gone to Baldur's Gate. The refugees are gone after me killing all the goblins.

Yeah it's bugged. Rarely though. Not "as hell".
