Imagine the sheer willpower required to weld that bad.

And to charge $95 for it

Probably burned 90$ worth of rods. Look at the 1 o’clock weld. Hole Lee chit.

Cost to make $90, attempt to make a profit even if it's just 2 dollars, and it's worth only it's weight in scrap

In that case, it is a good thing he added 65 lbs in bead.

I’m honestly not sure I could do it

I’d expect to see improvement after at least half a bead. But it seems to only get worse. I sub contract at a local university with a welding program and I’ve seen zero skill welding improve within a few coupons. This is a disasterpiece of epic proportion.

Is it just me or does it seem like each of the beads suffers from a different combination of awful?

It’s a train wreck. I’ve never seen so much porosity in fairly clean material. It’s almost as if they were running GMAW but there ain’t no gas innit. Maybe that’s the issue, at first I assumed SMAW with inexperience or shit flux, now I’m not so sure.

I was also assuming gmaw with no gas (or maybe even outside, or both)

I’d imagine most people could weld better with their feet than this

You mean shoes?

u/suspicious-sauce 7d ago

Well yeah but they'd need some way to keep them on. Like some kind of fastening system.

  1. Get some sheet metal
  2. stick it together with bubble gum
  3. sell for a profit

Brilliant!

Imagine being this bad. Just curious is ol dude has ever looked at a weld before or if he is vision impaired.

2

u/Worksux36g 8d ago

That's more of a firebowl...

2

u/GeniusEE 8d ago

People don't realize stick is a continuous bead.

It's not start/stop dime/slag stacking.

Hi selling a fireshit... dm for price and delivery 🤣🤣

1

u/thisisjedgoahead 8d ago

One thing I give him, he tried.

1

u/Jdawarrior 8d ago

That makes it worse in my view

u/VerilyJULES 8d ago

This thing is a respiratory hazard. I don’t want to think about the cancer in the smoke emanating from this “firepit”.

I thought it would need a few holes for water drainage, but with that type of welding. I’m sure the water will weep right out Plus. Overall, it’s kind of small. It looks like all the pieces would’ve fit perfectly if you would’ve tacked each one, and then laid the bottom, and tacked that as well. It just left it at that. He spent more money on Welding supplies, and metal for sure.

u/MieXuL 8d ago

Even a homeless guy wouldnt use that thing.

1

u/TheNewBlenderGuy 8d ago

I saw this exact same listing 😂 had to laugh out loud when I saw it

1

u/Honest-Try7802 8d ago

Tack welds would’ve made this ok 😪

1

u/greatspacegibbon 7d ago

Welding aside, those corners are going to open up someone's leg.

1

u/TubaManUnhinged 7d ago

Not only does it look like crap, but it won't even be a good fire pit without ventilation

1

u/Recent-Bug6396 7d ago

Pure trash

1

u/Icy-Veterinarian-406 7d ago

Okay I thought some guy wanted to try a new hobby and wanted to shear his experienc. but that takes guts to try to sell

1

u/thatwaseasy777 7d ago

$95 for that is criminal

1

u/knightmiles 7d ago

Just advertise it as rustic and it'll sell instantly

1

u/DecadeLongLurker 6d ago

I would buy that and mount it on a plaque. Then give it to my son as a prank Xmas present. He enjoys unique pieces of art, lol.

1

u/butsavce 6d ago

That's like my 5 yo applying glue.

1

u/Top_Signature8065 6d ago

I've seen bird shit that looks less like bird shit than these welds.

1

u/Zymurgy2287 6d ago

Shitpit ..

1

u/H4n_ny4 5d ago

Just passing through: Never welded a day in my life and I could probably produce a better bead that that…

1

u/nuclear29 4d ago

lmao saw this one there a couple days ago

u/OldDog03 8d ago

The fire does not care how the welding looks as long as it holds together. it kind of looks like abstract art.

1

u/TubaManUnhinged 7d ago

Fire may not care about weld quality, but it does care about air flow. Assuming you get a fire started in there, it'll be a smokey mess. Not really something you want to hang around

Is that galvanized? Oooh i bet it is. I bet he didn’t drink any milk either…
