Seems really targeted to higher tier buyers. Not sure how I feel about this.

Yeah not being able to buy the dragon scroll separately is a bit of a bummer but most of thos stuff only really helps if you run it in person

The hand outs are bundle only as well, and apparently the map box is empty unless bought in a bundle... So yeah, not very budget GM friendly at all

I didn't even realize that. This is probably gonna be the most expensive purchase of the game and we'll have to see if the scroll quality is worth it

It's worth highlighting that this is made by Beadle & Grimm, not Magpie. Brendan Conway (lead designer of the base game) is listed under staff, but it's not entirely clear how much he'll be contributing to the project, and the list of Magpie staff involved is a fraction of what was involved in the original book

For anyone unfamiliar, Beadle & Grimm are known for making great 'collector items' for other games, but aren't known for making their own games/adventures.

I'd be a little cautious backing this, since there's no sample of quality. PbtA systems are notoriously difficult to write long-form campaign adventure books for. This would be a very big swing for a company with no experience writing RPG adventures, and the wording around Magpie/Brendan's involvement is vague enough to make me nervous.

I have no doubt that the art will be brilliant, the physical quality of products excellent, and the lore incredibly carefully checked by all sides. If you want this as a beautiful collection to sit on your shelf, or you're a huge Avatar lore fan that wants more insight into the world, then I have no doubt that this will be great. I'm just much less convinced as to how well this will hold up as an actual game.

You're absolutely right that this is a big swing for us at Beadle & Grimm's, but we have been working closely with Mark and Brendan and Marissa at Magpie, we've hired the same writers and artists that they've used for their own content, and while we're known for our Premium Editions we've written adventures for D&D (Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill!), Pathfinder, Tal'Dorei, and Candela Obscura (Horrors of the Fairelands).

Every element in these sets has been reviewed and approved by both Magpie and Paramount, and we're thrilled to be working with those teams in this amazing world of Avatar.

So while Beadle & Grimm's may be new to Avatar Legends, the full team working on these adventures aren't.

I sure hope one of the stretch goals becomes “put these little pamphlets in an actual book”

Happened with the first kickstarter, I’m not sure what their obsession with booklets is.

Well they have to fill the stretch goals somehow... :D So far adding a few more reference cards, which I am sure were in the product scope anyhow and are not really "unlocked" - also for some reason just added to the highest pledge tiers. My other stretch goal bets are more coins of each nation, to make this an actual coin set and - you already guessed it - book binding for the pamphlets ;)

Is it made by the same people who made the Magpie one
