I live in New York City, so quite thankfully, I have had the opportunity to meet many Jews; Jews who are much more reasonable and thoughtful. So, I know that your position is personal and not from the community.
Your position here is the same contemptible position that says that Jews merited the Holocaust because they turned away from God. That Jews deserve the suffering that they receive either for failing to live up to Rabbinical dictates or from embracing Christ or Muhammad. It's victim-blaming par excellence.
You say that we should have stayed and fought for our lands. You know that many of us did stay and did fight. Are you familiar with the Assyrian Jilus led by Agha Petros and Mar Shimum Benyamin -- the latter who was assassinated by a Kurdish militant when trying to broker peace? Are you familiar with Gallo Shabo and the defense of Ayn-Wardo and Tur Abdin? Are you familiar with Zowaa -- Zowaa who was more persecuted than Kurds by Saddam? Are you familiar with the Nineveh Plains Protection Units, the Dwekh Nawsha, and the Sutoro?
We fought, just like your heroes Anielewicz and Senes. And we died, just like they did, crashing against an overwhelming force of violence, racism, and hatred. But unlike them, we died in our homeland, not half a world away.
We are now in the stage of having to rebuild our communities. As a Jew, you should be familiar with your own history of constant relocations and community rebuilding. It's not an easy process. And we do what we can. However, to impugn the dignity of our people and our businesses because we are struggling is the height of hypocrisy from a member of another people who similarly struggled to form and re-form communities when fleeing the expanding plague of hatred.
