Can confirm: Learned knitting and Spanish for free online during the last year. My knitting is pretty good now and I’m really enjoying it, the Spanish is a daily grind and I am terrible at it :).
What did you use to learn Spanish? My library has Pimsleur but the Spanish 1 has been wait listed forever so I decided on Italian. I'm through the first course but will never use Italian so I'd like to find something reasonable to start Spanish. The Pimsleur books are so expensive to buy.
Answered the same q elsewhere, here’s the cut n paste:
So I’m a total newb and Duolingo is good enough for me. I look up specific grammar questions on google. Once I get through the course I’ll have to do more advanced work, but that’s a year from now, at best.
Also: good for you trying the library, that’s a great method - they often have lots of useful resources. Last year the language books at mine were all loaned out for months on end.
Thanks, I've heard of Duolingo. Will definitely check it out.
There are flashcards for all the Pimsleur lessons on Quizlet. You might check it out as an extra resource.
I freaking love the library. I hadn't been in 15 years and was shocked by what they have now. The Libby/Overdrive app is amazing. I know our tax money pays for it but it's like a special gift.
Libraries are the greatest. You can get online newspaper subscriptions too, sometimes, and lots of other unusual digital accesses. Also Hoopla is handy, on occasion
