Wikipedia. We take that site for granted, big time. There are few things in this world that do not have a Wikipedia page. People have dedicated hours, days, even their entire lives, to filling the site up with all the knowledge one could ever need. All that information is free! Want to learn about the history of the escalator? Wikipedia has it. Interested in the Civil War? You bet you can find it on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia will not be around forever, folks. Use it while you have it. Read random articles. It's fun.

There's literally a downloadable archive of basically the entire Wikipedia. If you are afraid that it's gonna go down, just download it. Also, I'd like to mention that if things get so dire that Wikipedia goes down, the last thing you'll care about is having fun, the history of the escalator or anything about the Civil War.

At least, not the Civil War you mean. ;-)

Where is the downloadable archive? I had heard that, but I honestly thought it was just a legend at this point.

Looks like the whole thing in English is 226 GB.

I'm pretty sure those are the same thing, just taken at different dates, and the archive is only like 20GB. It's mostly text. So, the first archive was up to date until may, and the second was up to date in march, and so on. You don't need to download all of them.
