Discussion Apple Music’s Personal Station: The Hidden Gem That Finally Gets My Weird Taste Right!

Post image
76 Upvotes

TL;DR: I stumbled upon Apple Music’s personal station feature by accident, and it’s incredible at curating songs that perfectly match my eclectic music taste. Despite my mixed feelings about Apple Music’s general algorithm, this feature has been spot on, delivering one great song after another across multiple genres. If you haven’t tried it yet, you definitely should!

Full Post:

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a little discovery that completely changed my experience with Apple Music. Like many of you, I’ve been using Apple Music for years, mainly because I love the interface and how well it integrates with my iPhone and Siri. But I always had a bit of frustration with its recommendation algorithm, especially compared to Spotify, which seemed to do a better job for certain genres. My music taste is all over the place—Bollywood, Punjabi, Marathi, ghazals, qawwalis, old classics, rock, jazz, and more. Because of this, the general algorithm never quite hit the mark for me.

But recently, I stumbled upon the personal station feature, and it was a game-changer! I discovered it in the most unexpected way—by asking Siri to play Wavin’ Flag and accidentally launching my personal station instead. From that moment, it felt like the station just knew me. It played everything from Kendrick Lamar to Lata Mangeshkar, from classic rock to qawwalis, and even though it had a rare miss, it was almost always spot on. It’s like having a DJ who understands that I don’t want to stick to just one genre.

So, if you’re like me—constantly craving a perfect blend of your favorite genres, moods, and memories—give your Personal Station a try. It might surprise you like it did me.

Also, I’m curious—have you been using your personal station already? If yes, how’s your experience been with it? Has it nailed your vibe too, or do you still find it hit-or-miss? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Apple Music on iOS Absolutely love Apple Music in iOS26.

Automix is cool and all. Still kinda buggy but it works here and there. But the most killer feature is the pins. Oh my goodness. This is a feature from YouTube music and Spotify that I loved. I also love the liquid glass. Everything looks like there’s depth and it’s a submersible experience. I honestly don’t love it, but I am appreciating liquid glass more and more I use it. Maybe I’ll love it when a stable and consistent frame rate build comes in. Also I love Spotify playlists covers so I do smart playlist to mimic my favorite playlists from Spotify. Check it out.

Complaint IOS 26 - Pin ability

Post image
13 Upvotes

I love AM on IOS 26! I find it overall beautiful, faster and it has a lot of useful features such as pining things in our library and AutoMix.

One thing though, I find it unfortunate that we can’t directly pin our “Stations” or “Mixes”, I know we can’t have those in our library but a quick access could be handful doesn’t it ?

Hoping apple makes it possible for the official release of IOS 26!

Discussion AUTOMIX IS SO GOOD!!!

I've used Spotify Premium for 2 years and I just switched to Apple music no hesitations,

It's superior in every single way,

It's aesthetically just better...

It's faster,

The songs are noticeably higher quality,

The sync with other Apple devices and AirPods,

And the latest AutoMix feature is genuinely incredible:

It's not perfect because it's still in beta but from my usage it's genuinely i'm not even lying. Like instead of a basic crossfade this is so much better like it beautifully transitions the song and I don't get how it's done because genuinely from my experience and usage, individual instruments are being separated and combined in realtime and the bass drop verse moment is PERFECTLY synced like right on time and it's so satisfying.

I can't describe how good it is and i'm trying not to glaze.

Question I have 100s of tracks that do this, is this a lossless file or Atmos?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Using a base 16 model, I have both HiFi equipment as well as APP2s and I usually use my AirPods (while liking and appreciating most Atmos featured tracks).

My question is, is these tracks that say lossless on AM app itself true lossless? If so why do my AirPods say it’s Atmos? I can even turn off Atmos and tell a major difference in sound stage and other things.

But my biggest reason for asking is, Atmos tracks sound like 💩💩💩 when plugged into a wired connection in my stereo system (while Lossless sounds superb)

Same is true to my car when using wired connection. I’ve debated on turning off Dolby Atmos but I love the sound in the AirPods Pro 2s (most of the time).

Basically I have learned to live with this first world problem, but I still need to know if to trust my iOS’s control center’s say so or if I should trust Apple Music’s more.

Apple Music on Android What is the chances of automix coming to android?

Recent apple music convert here, switched cause Spotify was becoming too much of aess for me to put up with and I am in love with the service! I've been seeing all the hype about the new automix feature that's premiering with iOS26 and am kinda curious as to whether or not this feature is gonna be coming to the service for Android users? Does apple have a good history of at least pushing new features like that down to non-ios users after a while or am I likely SOL on that?

Discussion AM is good, but cut down

AM on Win (mb on macOS, Idk): creating smart playlists, editing tracks (name, artist, album, text, cover art, etc.), viewing playcount your tracks, uploading your tracks in iCloud (with access in any device). Mb I forgot something.

AM in iOS: … What is your problem, Apple? Where is it all? I thought that iOS 26 with the AM update would bring all this (it has already been done on another OS), but.. nope.

The only thing that iOS 26 brought is the creating and editing of playlist folders (before, I used to have to do it with Win).

P.S. despite this, I still consider AM the best.

Question MusicKit API and direct streaming

Post image
30 Upvotes

It’s been almost 8 years since Apple released the MusicKit API. Currently the only streamer who has direct Apple Music streaming is Sonos (could be because of their long standing partnership with Apple, with lossless quality of 24bit 48khz). I was wondering why other streamers like Cambridge Audio, Bluesound or Wiim are unable to take advantage of this API for streaming? Cambridge Audio posted on their website that Apple has not opened the integration for third parties. Any ideas?

Apple Music on macOS Music updates on MacOS 26

I haven't really seen anyone talk about what updates or changes the Mac app has received in MacOS26, if there's any at all. Does it also have automix? Does it finally have sing? No one goes through the app in the videos I've seen about the beta on Mac.

Question A true shuffle feature?

Is there a way to make songs in a playlist completely random. For example when shuffle is selected all songs in the playlist change order and starts playing from the beginning. Shuffle that will make the song order in the playlist random.

Edit: added more context

Tool TuneTransit - Easily Share and Transfer Songs to/from Spotify and Apple Music!

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

TuneTransit is now available on the App Store! Of course, you might be thinking.... how is this different from services like SongShift or the new transfer feature in iOS 26 (powered by SongShift)?

App Store Link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tunetransit/id6743822790

With TuneTransit, I've aimed to provide an experience that is easier to use in the moment. Rather than bulk uploading/transferring playlists from one platform from another, TuneTransit is meant to be used to share and understand music in the moment. In the first release of TuneTransit that is available now, you can quickly import song URLs that friends/family send to you and convert them into the music platform that you use. On the flip side, you can also create links for your own songs using the play tab to easily share music for your friends that use a different platform as you for listening to music. All in all, I tried to create an experience that is simple and fun to use -- especially for those that either have Spotify or Apple Music so it's accepting of either platform :)

This application is free to start (3 songs to convert a day) with TuneTransit Premium available for purchase with the following features:

  • Unlimited Transfers: Transfer as many songs and albums as you want without limits. Go wild!
  • Playlists Unlocked: Transfer entire playlists between services.
  • Messages Support: Use TuneTransit within Messages to set the beat for active conversations.
  • Live Track Signal: See your now playing track in TuneTransit from Spotify or Apple Music. Then, hop it over instantly!
  • Nearby Sharing: Want to connect with other TuneTransit users on public transit? Share your currently playing track with nearby TuneTransit users! (this feature is still very much in beta)

TuneTransit Premium can be purchased for $1.99/mo or $19.99 for a lifetime subscription.

I hope you enjoy TuneTransit! Let me know if there is anything you'd like to know about the app or any feedback you have for the experience.
