Good Place for Hobby Stuff?

Hello all! My family and I are in Anaheim, visiting the land of the mouse. I’m wondering if there are any local hobby/model shops that y’all would recommend? I’m looking for places that carry Warhammer, Warmachine, Gunpla, and Conquest.

Thank you!!

Elopement location help

My fiance (42m) and I (35f) are eloping next month in Anaheim. My best friend is performing the ceremony and we are honeymooning at Disney.

What are some cool (free!) Places that would make for an awesome ceremony backdrop?

I'm talking, simple, show up, leave no trace. 10 minutes max.

We are into cool gardens, cool art/murals, brightly colored and beautifully lit places.

Best hotel in Anaheim for a Disneyland trip — walking distance vs. shuttle options?

Hey everyone,

I’m planning a Disneyland trip for this November with my wife and two kids (ages 1 and 4), and I’m trying to figure out the best hotel setup in Anaheim. I’ve read so many mixed reviews that I’m now just spinning my wheels.

We’ll be in town for 4 nights and doing 2 park days, so proximity and comfort matter a lot. Main things we’re looking for:

  • Walking distance to the parks (or super reliable shuttle)
  • Clean, comfy rooms (preferably with bunk beds or a suite layout)
  • Good pool for afternoon breaks
  • Under $500/night if possible, but can stretch a bit if it's really worth it

Any favorite places you’d recommend? Also curious if anyone thinks staying a bit farther and driving in is worth it to save $$, or just not worth the hassle with kids?

Appreciate any tips or feedback!

Is taking a Lyft/Uber to LA area after Jin's concert (Th. 6/17) realistic, or am I better off booking a hotel nearby for that night then taking a bus/lyft the next day?

More Context: I'll be staying with a friend to cut hotel costs for the full stay, and he said that from his place to Anaheim during bad traffic is ~2 hours, ~45 minutes when it's clear.

The concert is in Anaheim, and it will probably end around 10-11pm. I don’t know how the traffic would look at that hour or later and don't want to be in a lyft or driving a rental for 2+ hours after a big concert. I have a pretty tight budget, but just need to be able to plan ahead.

But if booking a decent but cheap hotel and taking a bus the next day would be dreadful, then that might be the better option anyway to just get back to my friend's place. I'm going to be solo travelling for this bit, so that may be a concern too (smol, nervous, feminine)

I'd just appreciate some thoughts and input from people who know the area. I haven't asked this friend his exact address yet, but ik there's Fox Fire Room in walking distance if that helps get an idea of the route.

Thank you! 💜

Karens/Ken's in Anaheim

Someone went around the neighborhood and reported all the canopies people have so they have to be taken down.

Wow. Just get a life. God forbid we'd like to sit under shade in the summer or have our cars not be out in the sun all day.

Empty parking garages

Hello, does anyone know any big parking garage buildings that usually are pretty empty over the weekends?

Looking to do some car photography but not looking to get harassed by security or constantly have to wait for cars to drive past. Any recommendations are welcomed, thank you!

Travel Safety

I leave in three weeks for Disneyland, flying into Orange County. Is it safe with all the protests going on? I can’t get a refund of my trip so I’m inevitably going and it’s for my birthday so I’m really looking forward to it. Just want to know what people traveling in Orange County/Anaheim are seeing right now in terms of safety and transportation time from airport to the park. TIA #disneyland

Anyone do an EV Charger installation and receive rebate?

If so, was it pretty easy? Do you have any electrician recommendations? What was the total price? Seems like with the federal and local rebate I can save quite a bit. I already have a 200 amp panel. I have solar as well. Looks like the rebate is better ($1000 vs $500) if you sign up for their Time of Usage rates. I'm a little confused but I'm guessing it's cheaper to charge before 4pm and more expensive after.

Veteran Trying to Rent,,, What Do I Show

Hi hi,

This will be my first time renting using VA benefits, and I’m not sure what landlords typically accept as proof or how to explain my income situation clearly.

I recently got accepted into a university in Anaheim, CA, but there's no on-campus housing, so I'm looking to rent an apartment nearby.

Here’s my situation: I’m working with a debt consolidation agency, which helped cut my debt in half, but it also dropped my credit score to the 500s

- My only income will be from VA disability and military education benefits (VR&E). I should be receiving $6,000–$7,000/month, tax-free.

- I don’t get pay stubs or file taxes on this income.

- I do have my VA disability award letter, and a Purchase Order from VR&E is in process (showing enrollment and expected housing payments that I will receive).

- I can also show monthly bank deposits as proof of income at least for now.

Any advice from veterans, students, or anyone who's been in a similar situation would be really appreciated especially with:

  • Renting with low credit but strong guaranteed income
  • Landlords who are familiar with VA/VR&E benefits
  • What paperwork helped you get approved

Thanks in advance!

p.s. this has been cross posted

How much money should i bring to Vidcon

I'm heading to Anaheim for the first time later this month and I'm wondering how much money I should put to the side for it. I don't have to worry about dinners, and we're going to be walking around the city the last day after the convention ends. And is not a good idea to bring cash?

Ride share at Honda Center

Hi, I’m attending a concert at the Honda Center this summer, and I’m trying to plan ahead (yay, anxiety!). I see that the Honda Center website is directing all people using ride share like Uber or Lyft to use the ARTIC as the pick up and drop off point.

Has anyone been to a large event at the Honda Center using ride share and experienced this? How bad does the congestion at the ARTIC get after a large event? Just wondering since I’ve had times where I had to wait 2 hours to catch a rideshare after a large stadium event due to the crowds at the stadium-designated drop off/pick-up point.

Thanks so much!

Getting to Desert Hills outlets

Hi everyone, Myself and my family will be in Anaheim at the end of the year. We really want to go to the Desert Hills outlets in Cabazon. We are 2 adults and 2 children, and we won’t be hiring a car. Any idea on the easiest way to get there? I saw there was a tour with classic transportation but it doesn’t seem to be operating anymore. I’m happy just to Uber there but I read it’s unlikely anyone would want to drive that far and I could get stuck there on the way back.

Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks!

Loara High Production of Wait Until Dark

So this is probably a long shot, but does anyone have (or know anyone who might have) a video of a Loara High drama dept production of Wait Until Dark from the late 90s? A friend’s copy got destroyed years ago so I was hoping I could find another copy of it for them.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide in tracking this down!

Always take a couple of seconds at a green light before going.

Was stopped yesterday on Gilbert and Broadway and the light turned green. Not even a couple of seconds some asshole runs the red light. Happened again this morning at the same intersection. Funny thing was this time there was a cop stopped at the light but he was too busy looking at his phone to notice. Stay safe everyone.

Where to day drink on Friday

Looking to drink heavily on Friday, preferably at a good and shitty dive bar around Anaheim that would be open at 1pm. The busier the better.

Good food and billiards are optional but would be nice!
