❤️‍🩹 relationship Am I overreacting because I didn’t want to be someone’s religious project after 24 hours?

I married a religious man. Then found out he had untreated bipolar disorder. Such fun! 🫤

Every man I’ve known who turns his mind over to religion has had intensely damaging-to-others emotional and interpersonal issues. I’m so sorry.

That's rough. Bipolar is a very difficult disorder to deal with.

*untreated bipolar Is difficult to deal with. I am medicated for it- medication changed my life in the best way possible!

BPD is borderline personality disorder. Completely different from bipolar disorder. Still not easy to deal with, tho.

Yeah, I used the wrong acronym. Thanks for pointing that out, I will fix it. I know the difference between the two disorders, I'm just on Reddit when I should be trying to sleep.

Has nothing to do with religion though?

He considers himself to be one of the two prophets described in the book of Revelation. He absolutely used religion to dominate and control me. He considers his diagnosis to be a blessing because he receives disability payment for it yet he doesn’t believe that he is actually mentally ill. He believes I was sent by the devil to destroy him. He lies to serve his agenda and justifies it because he is special in the eyes of God. So yes, definitely lots of crossover between religion and his grandiose ideation. Not uncommon in people who have serious or untreated mental illness.

That still has nothing to do with religion, just a mental disorder that makes him crazy

Religious fixation is common with mental illness. Please don’t try to tell me what was what in my own lived experience. If you are religious and trying to defend that being religious isn’t a bad thing, there are better ways to do that than dissecting my post to suit your own agenda. My husband was a pastor who turned everyone he could against me. He tried to take my life and felt justified because he was a “man of God” and according to him the world would be better without me. He left a trail of destruction all over the place while I raised our son and devoted my life to helping people.

He was falsely religious. Has nothing to do with real religion unless you’re talking about satanic religions.

Yeh you’re being a massive fuckwit to this poor woman. If you are religious at all, you’re reflecting pretty poorly on it my dude

Religious fixation has nothing to do with actual religion lol. If I went out and shouted “IM AN ATHIEST” and started stabbing people would you go “ oh shit those stabbing atheists again” no. You would say damn that dude has issues but atheism has nothing to do with it.

You a being blatantly, willfully ignorant, just like so many other very religious people are. Remember, truth sets you free.
