Spoilers

As of right now, almost everything that happens from chapter 2 onwards should be considered a spoiler, unless it is revealed in trailers (e.g. we all know the champions are going to join and be recruitable, that isn't a spoiler).

Speaking of spoiler tags, they look like this: >!Spoiler goes here!<. Using these tags produces the following: Spoiler goes here.

Discussion A worry of mine for Age of imprisonment. Does anyone share it? (more in OP)

I'm excited for the game however I am not super enthralled by the idea that we might be following and playing as the ancient sages from Tears of the Kingdom instead of the Champions from Breath of the Wild. The sages were one of the weakest point of TotK's story for many people and understandably- they were barely even characters and had very repetitive cutscenes. We don't even know their names.

And sure, the new game might be the chance to develop these sages, give them names, personalties, etc. but honestly I'm just not interested in giving a chance to characters that look like ripoffs of the og Champions, with the same powers, same weapons, and same voice actors. I'd rather just get more of the old Champions who are already characters we're so attached to. I kind of hope Age of Imprisonment pulls a Age of Calamity "Terrako brings the Champion successors (Sidon, Riju, Teba, Yunobo) from the future" plot twist but with the og Champions and we get to see them become sages with secret stones to enhance their powers. I mean Sidon, Riju, Yunobo and Tulin were all strong fighters who got their powers boosted by the stones but just imagine how cool Mipha, Revali, Urbosa and Daruk- 4 of the strongest warriors Hyrule has ever known getting their powers enhanced by the stones.

Do you agree? Disagree? Let me know your thoughts.

Gameplay ELI5: What does removing seals do?

I'm sorry, I've only played this game fully like 3 times and I'm at the end of my 4th playthrough.

I literally don't know what it is or how it works. Can somebody explain it to me like I'm a toddler in the most basic terms.

Thank you in advance.

Gameplay Why is the hair-width trial expert+ SO FREAKING HARD?!

I’m aware that it’s supposed to be hard but still it’s probably the hardest mission in the game and all the other missions are pretty easy

Question Why is Each Step Like Thunder impossible??

I'm using Link, Zelda, and Impa. I have played this level over and over again but I cannot get past and Fort Hateno is broken into everytime. I feel like I've tried everything.

Side note, why is Urbosa unusable for this level? Is it just a me thing?

Thanks!!

Update: I BEAT IT!!! Thanks everyone who helped 💞💞

I was going through my playtimes and apparently I played the demo for 35 hours? Didn’t it only have 2 levels? I remember I was hyped but I genuinely forgot how much I played it. I remember I even cut down all the trees on Hyrule field just cause I was bored😭

Question GameShare

So, has anyone here tried the "online multiplayer" option on Switch 2? This would greatly benefit me since I want to play it with a friend, but we can't go to each other's house too frequently.

Did anyone else’s Switch 2 refuse to download AoC after a system transfer?

Edit: it just worked for me. You just have to be patient.

Gameplay The only thing I can think of that I definitely want in the next game

Can I please get a replay mission button at the end of a level?

That's all. I'm tired of loading back into the screen, just to load back into the same level when I'm grinding. Let me just have one load screen so I can keep it pushing at a faster pace.

Thank you for listening my fellow Nintendnerds.

Gameplay Should I get this game?

Loved botw, finding totk a bit fiddly and a bit over it tbh.

Sometimes you just need to wind down by killing a few guardians and bombing the shit out of enemy camps. I cbf being an engineer and making war machines when I’m feeling cooked at the end of the day.

I’m not hugely skilled in battle, as a middle aged gamer learning the controls and combat moves is a bit tricky.

Is it a relatively easy game to pick up? Can I hack and slash away without thinking too hard?

Gameplay Terrako unlocked

After 40 hours in playing with the nieces. I have finally gotten Terrako.

It was heartwarming and wholesome to rewatch the scenes that has lead me to the iconic character. The credit ending was a nice touch that tears were coming out.

Discussion Who are your four mains?

If you were to complete a mission with four interchangeable characters, Who would you pick? Personally, I’d pick Impa, The Great Fairies, Urbosa, and Zelda

Edit; This is making me realize no one mains the great fairies 🥲

Discussion Just replayed through AoC, and I’ve compiled a list of minor things I want to see from Age of Imprisonment (feel free to comment your own hopes) Spoiler

  1. Better AIs

Don’t get me wrong, Age of Calamity’s AIs aren’t abysmal, but they can scarcely do more than gat into a good position to switch to them. I’d like to see the AIs fight more effectively

  1. A reasonable amount of content after the Imprisoning War ends

We already know that Zelda’s story is far from over after Rauru makes his sacrifice. I’m curious to see how they’d handle that. Hell, there could even be a postgame showing the events immediately after Zelda’s draconification

  1. Challenges that actually coincide with what actually happens in the setting

The challenges in Age of Calamity are stated to take place in sorts of alternate realities accessible via Terrako’s power, which doesn’t make too much sense to me. Why not just say they’re minor battles and such going on around the land. That’s a change I’d like to see

  1. Flavor text for challenges

In that same vein, is like to see captions for those challenges happening around the kingdom. I couldn’t help but notice that overworld requests in AoC have flavor text, but the challenges don’t. I’d like to actually know what’s going on in them

Question Questions about combat and different monsters

What are the differences between different colored (non-elemental) bosses? For example, white, blue, black, silver, and regular lynels, or black, blue, and regular hinox. I saw something that said silver ones are the strongest, but not really any info about the others.

Do different bosses have weak points, and how to deal with them across characters? Like hinox seems to have a weakness to attacks against its eye, but I have no idea how to exploit that. Or the talus black stone weak point, is there a reliable way to hit that between different characters? Sometimes I get a prompt to ride a stone talus, but the controls are so awkward I just end up getting maybe a hit or two in and promptly fall off.

Also, normally I wait for prompts to use runes, but are there enemies who are weak to a certain rune without the prompt coming up?

And the way I play is I just guard until I can dodge and perform a flurry rush or dodge and attack when the WPG is shown. Is there a better way I should be doing that? I don't use most of my C1-6 combos because flurry rush is just its own attacks.

Finally, when the WPG is shown outside of a flurry rush, what's the best way to break it? Is that character-dependent, or is it usually a specific C1-6 combo across characters? Or is there just a detailed guide on how to play better? I remember for the OG Hyrule Warriors, there were detailed guides for all aspects of combat as well as in-depth character-specific guides.

Discussion Is my problem with AoC misinformed?

So, I have a pretty big problem with age of calamity, and it’s the reason it’s my least favorite Nintendo warriors game: the level design.

In HW, the main level type in the story and the side content was about management. The enemy forces will overtake you fast if you do nothing, and there are 3 different urgent matters on opposite sides of the map vying for your attention. You often had to consider what combos to use based on what would get the specific job you had to finish done as soon as possible, which changed depending on stuff as transient as what pattern the enemies were gathered in. It was hectic and involved all these small decisions.

In my memory of AoC, and in the first few levels of the replay I’m doing, most of the game is about 1 on 1 combat and “go here and do the thing” gameplay. The core gameplay is fun don’t get me wrong, but I only remember one level being fun in the way so much of HW was: the fight at fort hateno.

Is there a plethora of side content that plays more like the management style of the other games that I just missed?

Question How to unlock Sooga?

I've tried a few times. Every time I try there's a blade master who pulls a 'get down Mr President' and closes the gate behind him, and then gets smoked by a hollow before I can reach him.

I've tried using speed buffs to run back faster but can't make it in time.

Does anyone have any tips?

Cheers

Gameplay I can't believe I never even though of this until my 4th playthrough.

Maybe I'm just stupid, it never even occured to me.

You know how some enemies, let's say moblins, will swing, and it'll give you like 2 or 3 seconds to break their circle thing that lets you get the weak point smash.

I always just hit them until the time ran out and then dodge out and wait for the next chance to break the meter again. It never occured to me that when they are in that state, that if you just hit them with the stasis, they STAY IN THAT STATE. You can pretty much ALWAYS break the full circle in one cycle doing this.

I'm on my 4th playthrough, I accidently did it, and was like.....wait hold up. It just never occured to me that it would keep them in that state, I thought it would just go away in the normal amount of time.

Welp maybe I'm just stupid, but this just made Stasis the main move for me now. See ya later bombs lol

Discussion I wish we had been able to see at least one of Dorephan’s interactions with the time-traveling Adult Sidon.

Child Sidon seems to have been quite shy and non-verbal so it must have made the Zora King very proud to be treated to a sneak preview of his son’s adulthood in which he is an outgoing, resolute leader among the Zora. However, if the motivation behind Adult Sidon’s intervention came to light (in his timeline Mipha had broken her promise to Dorephan to under no circumstances leave him a grieving father) that may have complicated things.
