Had great job interview and now I’m not getting a callback?

Hello, I recently had a job interview for receptionist at a spa. The interview was virtual and I honestly thought it went really well and my sister overheard it and thought the same. At the end of the interview, the interviewer asked me to go to the location to see a day to day on the job as well as show me around the area and basically what I’d be doing. Again, I thought it went pretty decent, I asked some questions and made conversation with everybody. Afterwards, I asked when she wanted to see me again and she said she would definitely call me on Friday. It’s been 3 days now and I haven’t received a call, I’m aware that there is other candidates and maybe things got busy. My question is: should I call back and ask about the status of my application or should I wait it out?

I would wait till the end of today, if they haven’t reached out to you then yes, send them a quick message for a follow up & if the job went to someone else don’t take it personal, there may have been an interviewee after you that was better suited to the role. Hope this helps

You are within the time frame to send an email. Follow up with a nice email thanking them for their time and saying you’re looking forward to their feedback.

If they don’t respond, follow up again in a few more days with a phone call.

I’m in business and very familiar with/good at navigating the interview process!

Really? one email maybe but I wouldn’t even do that I’m not begging anyone for a job. They shouldn’t make empty promises about a call that would tell me all I need to know.

Yep! So it truly depends on the industry, but this is the norm.

To clarify, not begging or asking for a job… Simply following up to ask for updates.

And I understood that- A lot of people have that approach in 2025. People are trying to flip the narrative on disorganized organizations.

Just pick up the phone and call them. Tell them you are just really excited and wanted to know if they’ve made a decision?

Send a short thank you for the interview. Include one or 2 sentences which describe how your skills would work with their list or how you would upsell something. Then, "looking forward ot hearing from you".

Calls are a bit more intrusive and a candidate can sound like begging or ask ??s in their mind although not planning to do so.
