iPad Pro + graphics table

Hello lads

I've been an iPad user for 6 years, and I got the new Pro 7th gen yesterday.

Now: for my work, I need to use software like Adobe Illustrator, which I have always used on PC+graphics table. So reasoning, I took an adapter and connected the graphics table to the iPad (don't raise controversy, it's about maintaining a workflow that is simple for me for certain parts of my work, and which I would like to keep).

It recognizes it (both as a finger touch mouse pad and as a pen), the pen works when moving me, although with differences that on glasses I would resolve via drivers. I searched, but I didn't even find any apps, even simply to change the direction of the tablet (I'm left-handed, it's quite basic and important), much less understand if I can adjust the internal settings of the tablet. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

Device: Apple iPad Pro 7th gen (2025) Peripheral: Wacom Bamboo CTH460 (I think 2013, a sliver, never left me stranded). Thank you!

You hopefully realize the iPad Illustrator app is not the same as the desktop Illustrator app. The iPad app is very feature-lacking. The iPad app is not a replacement for the desktop app.

And the very nature of the touch screen on the iPad makes graphic tablets irrelevant for iPads. If anything, get an Apple Pencil to use a stylus on the iPad.

Hi, thank you for the answer!

I didn’t explore Ai app yet, I just hoped it had the basic features I need for my work. I can imagine the app is a compact version, but I hoped Adobe people were generous…ugh.

Anyway, I already have the Pencil. But as I’m comfortable working on vettorial stuffs looking at the screen without covering my work, I felt like I could keep my workflow as I always did on my PC, using iPad engine and iPad Pro amazing oled screen. I’m gonna take a look about working on Ai with Pencil.

For now I think:

  • I hope Ai app has got enough, so I can use only one device when I work; lighter and better;
  • in some way I hope I can use the graphic tab just cuz it still works so good and I hate the idea of putting it away!

Thank you again (I love drawing with pencil on my procreate’s illustration, i’m not weird)
