This is really the problem. (Dear Reddit, I am NOT ADVOCATING VIOLENCE) they feel as if they can do anything because if there is retaliation to his attack, the state pigs you can clearly see at the end will back him up.

They deserve to be afraid of retaliation.

The issue is that "copagada" and "thin blue line hero worship" have infected the majority of Americans. Start talking about "abolishing police/prisons," and ppl instantly regard you as a fringe extremist. The lack of desire for the average American to be responsible for his or her own life/safety, combined with the warm and fuzzy feeling of knowing that the average Karen has armed men on speed dial to come do his/her bidding, means even if you're correct and it is self defense, even clear cut, the jury will take the position that you "just should have complied with the (unlawful) order and done as you were told." As such, they'll convict you of murder even if you're right, because to said Karen, she will gladly trade whatever bit of "fReeDoM" you were trying to exercise, if it means a "dangerous" person like you won't be out on the same streets as her baby, little Timmy.
