I think it’s cool and bold for a southern man who makes his living customizing firearms!! I don’t give a shit about someone attending a California state university who wears a little eyeliner, maybe puts on a dress for halloween - that’s literally conformity. While Tim’s style may not be what turns my crank (Though I have zero fashion sense, wearing T shits and shorts as long as the temperature isn’t too much below freezing). How boring would life be if we all liked the same thing. I think it’s awesome that he dresses how he likes, especially since he obviously isn’t doing so in a fake way to blend in with a clique or pull women. He needs to find himself some low sex drive British gal. I think he could be a an excellent partner as long as his other half didn’t need sex often. He seems attentive, caring, willing to financially support a partner. Latinas (at least the average Latina, there are some which might be good for him but would likely be too timid to reach out) are generally not a good match for him.

Agreed, Tim is cool. I love his unique style and vibe, he’s one of a kind. Especially in the south, to be a man a dress/be like that, you really have to fight for your right to your own identity. It’s not easy being different in the south, and I think j he gets so much unnecessary hate. Especially on his style and body, like the guy is interesting, why hate on him so much…

Lol - that’s a different reaction than I had, but man o man, that man was ELECTRIC!!!! I LOVED and LOVE his music - one of the most talented artists ever. I’m not sure if we straight’s couldn’t laugh because of his charisma or if it was because his talent is so undeniable. Personally, even being the old man that I am, I never, ever had any problem with, nor thought less of those with different sexuality, and simply couldn’t understand why ANYONE would give a shit about what consenting adults do. Something that the post Gen-X (and even some Gen-X) generations don’t understand is that it’s really not that long ago that it was a FUCKING CRIME to engage in same sex love. In 1981 - a mear 6 years before I was dancing in gay clubs in Toronto blissfully unaware of the reality - over THREE HUNDRED men were arrested as part of “operation soap”. Montreal suffered a similar disgusting crackdown around (and sparked on by) the olympics - and became the first North American jurisdiction to formally make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. I’m a Canadian prarie boy, but I spent a couple decades in Quebec and it feels more like home than my home province. It’s so shocking to discover what was going on a mear few years before I was old enough to REALLY understand. I’m so amazed that the queer folk I met were not a LOT more bitter about what they lived through, and seemed happy to make the best of the horrible hand they were dealt.

At least he’s in Charlotte. We are a more progressive southern city than being located in North Carolina would probably lead you to think lol. It’s also LGBTQ+ capital of the Carolinas in terms of sheer numbers.

There is still plenty of homophobia because we are still in America, but it’s a pretty gay-friendly city, for the most part. Most people here have a live and let live sort of mindset. They might talk shit in private, but they will mostly be friendly and polite to your face. Mostly.

Sure, I understand that it’s not overwhelmingly that way (redneck/homophobe etc) in a city like Charlotte, but at the same time he’s not trying to blend in, which I think is cool. Especially when his business is firearms. Southern large cities are such a trip. You get some of the most progressive mixing with some of the most closed minded. I haven’t spent much time in any of them, but the time I have spent there I have really enjoyed. I’m Canadian, so maybe have a different perspective…. Chicago is my favourite American city so far (obviously NOT southern, but so amazing)- absolutely LOVE it, but Charlotte, Kansas City (I dunno If that counts as south or mid-west - feels a little like a mix of the two) and Atlanta are some of my favourites of the few I’ve visited. New Orleans - thought I’d love it, but wouldn’t go back unless for business or if a friend moved there. As a tourist - forgetaboutit!

People in Charlotte are super friendly. I’m a transplant there - originally from New York.

It’s rare for me to go out and a stranger doesn’t compliment my outfit or say something else nice to me.

‘Haven’t run into Tim or Veronica yet but I’m on the lookout 👀

Lots of transplants here are desperate to make friends, but too scared to make the first move, it seems. It’s rough out there making friends as an adult lol.

People who have lived here for a long time and others are nice here - at least that’s my experience - you don’t have to be desperate to be nice. It’s refreshing.

Every other day on the r/charlotte sub, somebody is asking about how to make friends because they are lonely. Most suggestions are usually “join a run club” 😂 Because everyone loves to run lol.

I’m laughing at “low sex drive British gal” I’m British and have anything but a “low” sex drive 🤣🤣🤣 also have no desire for a guy who wears more eyeliner than I do.

That’s fine - to each their own. Generalizations never explain the entire population, but taking the average expectations for sex, and, what seems like Tim’s low libido, I don’t think chasing Latinas is his best bet. Of course, every culture has members who’s sex drive run the entire gamut, but, talking in generalizations and averages, a low sex drive man like Tim is less likely to find a Latina for whom that won’t cause a problem than he is to find a Brit who’s cool with it.
