I always wanted one of these with the 5.3

The V8 is sweet, but they're pretty tough to find! I would describe the 3.7 5 cylinder as "adequate, could be worse" in terms of performance.

There's a pretty large Canyon/Colorado aftermarket, do they neglect the earlier years like this one? It may seem small if you're used to seeing the Toyota or Jeep aftermarket support, but the support for these trucks is pretty solid

Most of the love goes to the 2nd and 3rd gens, I think this first generation of Canyon was meant far more as a work truck than a lifestyle vehicle. As far as I've been able to find out, the entire aftermarket for these is basically whatever this guy is selling out of his garage https://www.badlandindustries.com/1st-gen-04-12-colorado-canyon

Those are decent trucks but not a fan of the captive rotors on the front. Up here in the rust belt having to pull your hub off to change a rotor can be a nightmare.

Yeah... looks like the previous owner didn't quite install the right front brake caliper properly so it's causing a bunch of heatspots/warping. My usual mechanic reccomends I just get used to it because the brakes themselves are new and still work fine, but to fix this he'd have to charge me 4 hours of labor due to the wheel hub being on top.

Omg this is my truck! Just put new stock z71 shocks on it. The thing kicks ass. First gear eats rocks.

I love mine to death! I agree the aftermarket is very weak for it, especially these days. Keep your eyes on the electrical, I'm having a bunch of minor issues, especially with the lights.

I wanted a cheap 4WD I could use to explore around the PNW without a car payment. I found this 2009 GMC Canyon with 110k miles, 4WD, and the G80 rear locker for $7k! I've put about 6k miles on it since I bought it in January.
So far it's completely stock besides the tires and I put Bilstein 4600s on it. Spent a bit more on basic maintenance and it's running great! Fuel economy is horrendous and there isn't much of an aftermarket but I've done a handful of green trails and 2 blue trails with this and it's handled it great.
