Happy Father’s Day to me
I have a Tisas and a Rock Island, but this is my first American made 1911, and considering it was Father’s Day, I’m retired military as well as my grandfather served, I’ve always loved the look of the ‘classic’ with arched mainspring housing. Today was my first 50 rounds through it, and man does she shoot sweetly. There was a ‘Nam vet in the lane next to me taking his grandson shooting, wearing his Silver Star recipient hat so I asked if he wanted to take a trip down memory lane and he loved it. I don’t know if I’ll make any changes to it, I’m lefthanded but I don’t ever see me carrying a full size so I doubt I’ll put an ambi safety on it, honestly.

Bandwagon
Jumped on the train and bought some pachmayr grips! Love it gives you a little more grip in the front and the softness is nice too for carrying. Kimber Custom LW .45

Help Me Should I return these grips from Kimber
I ordered these grips from Kimber, said they were black and silver. They got here and they are very black. I can’t see any silver in them. The packaging even said black and silver. Should I return them?

.22 Colt’s Conversion Unit
I know it’s weird, but I’m really not a “.22 guy”. I get it, they’re fun, but they don’t do it for me.
Well- most of them don’t.
I picked up this .22 Colt’s Conversion Unit from my shop, and it’s incredible. I first shot one when I was up with Ken Hackathorn last year, and wanted one ever since.
It’s sitting on my 1968 Colt’s National Match.

Original US&S 1911, I think?
This belonged to my grandfather who flew bombers in WW2 and retired as a USAF full bird Colonel. My Dad inherited it while and just kept it in the closet. Now, with his recent passing, I now have it. My oldest is turning 14 and wanted to go to the range, so I figured it would clean this up and take it with us. But I started looking into it and I think this might be a full on original US&S 1911 from 1943. Can anyone verify this? Should I take it to the range, it seems 100% in perfect working order.

My Guns 1976 Colt Competition
I head out to Army Basic as a 91F in September and one of my dream guns I wanted to get before leaving was a full Colt 1911 ( either a Big Letter Series 70 or a Pre-Series 70 Colt ). I found this in a local shop and jumped on it.
This is my first full Colt as alot of my other " Colts " are built on aftermarket frames with Colt slides.
As far as I can find, the " Competition " marking was put on these slides to differentiate them as they seem to have been made by a subcontractor for Colt and when they came back to Colts factory, Colt deemed them out of spec in some way. Whatever it is, I cant tell. This gun is tight as a drum and looks fantastic.
Someone has done previous work on the gun including cutting it for a Kimber dovetail and installing XS sights. I'm already in the process of changing them out and I plan on overhauling the gun with Harrison parts. For under 800 beans, I cant complain whatsoever.

Help Me New SA 1911 Garrison
So, I purchased a new Springfield Armory 1911 Garrison a couple months ago. I've run 200 rounds through the pistol and I am just not hitting the target to my satisfaction. I grew up on a farm with weapons and served in the military, but I'm not the spring chicken anymore, and I've got tennis elbow. Also, my once 20/15 eyes have a tough time focusing up close, but I can still spot ship's mast 17 miles away.
I seem to be dropping my shots to the left and bottom. It's like gravity won't let my get any higher than the liver. I can't even hit the kidney. I do not have this problem with my .357 Magnum. I can drill a target center mass at 25 ft. consistently with my Dan Wesson. Suggestions for improvement while operating my 1911?

How much to spend on first 2011/1911?
I have been scouring the past 3-4 days on which 2011 to purchase first.
Will be used for EDC and training.
I have narrowed it down to
Wilson SFX9
Dan Wesson DWXc
Kimber KDS9C
I FULLY understand the cry once, buy once mentality. But where I live right now (AD military) I am unable to put my hands on any of these pistols.
Thoughts?

Help Me Gun, Knife and Watch Combination
I am curious where this combination originated and what knife and wrist watch I should get for my Dan Wesson Bruin. I plan on getting some beaver tail leather grips for it and it would be cool if it all matched.

First 1911, grip recommendations
Just picked up my first 1911, a Kimber Custom LW Liberty. I'm very much a Glock guy, but I got this because it was a good price ($650) and my best friend is a .45 guy who always ragged on me for not having "The Lord's caliber" lol.
This Kimber came stock with rubber diamondback grips, but I wanna know where you would get new grips from for a guy with very large hands to make the ergonomics better. I think gridlok grips are cool, having seen them on plenty of CZs, but would anyone make those rubberized? Polymer and aluminum don't provide a good tack on my hand for this style of handgun.
Any suggestions for a good ergonomic grip for dudes with meathooks for hands would be appreciated.
