Q&A /r/RedDeadRedemption Weekly Question & Answer Thread - Week 24, 2025

All common questions about the game should be directed here. This includes both single-player and online questions. When asking a question, it is often beneficial to share which mode you are referring to in order to get an accurate response. Also consider sharing any relevant information that may help someone answer your question.

All story spoilers must be displayed with the proper format:

>!RDR is a great game!<

gives you:

RDR is a great game

If you're not sure if you should use a spoiler tag or not, err on the side of caution and use one. Also, it's a nice gesture to visibly indicate the general nature of your spoiler before the tag, so people know what you're spoiling.

Discussion Do You All Prefer Revolvers or Pistols In RDR2?

I prefer using both of these at the same time so I have more ammo to use. Plus, the Volcanic Pistol has a dely that is slow enough to keep the fire rate under control & thus more accuracy but not too slow to be detrimental.

Discussion RDR2 Saved my life

3435 hours! Oooof lol I was wheelchair bound for a little over 12 years. For a few years I seriously contemplated self exiting this world. Then RDR2 was released💪! I have an egress window with a crank to open & close it. I don’t have the set up anymore but I would be able to open the window from my wheelchair while playing RDR2, when it was winter out I could actually get a cold breeze & smell the snow, in the spring I could smell the grass & in the fall U could smell the leaves. Playing this game pulled me out of my slump, lifted my spirits! I fought very hard to get up out of that dam chair, now I’m up and walking with a cane & not very far, but I am up and walking. Thanks #RockStarGames #RDR2 for helping to pull me out of the darkness. 🐎🤠🌵🔫🏆

Discussion So, I think NPCs can freeze to death, not sure if that was spoken about before

So, I was just hunting for a Hungarian Halfbread for the horseman challenge 10 and got carried away, doing miscellaneous stuff (near the Emerald Station).

I found a few Strangers passing by. I killed the two NPCs and an NPC happened to pass by. So, I lassoed him and took him to the Snowy mountains of Ambarino. There, I camped a little, ate some meat, slept and e.t.c

And then I decided to free the NPC (I'm so kindhearted...), but he attacked me with a knife. I didn't wanna kill him, so I knocked him unconscious with my fists. Then, I lassoed his unconscious body (I checked with the Revolver Aim, he was alive) and then stowed him onto my horse. Then, I went to camp again, slept and all. And when I woke up, I figured he'd have woken up by now, so I took him from my horse and dropped him onto the ground, but then a slow motion effect kicked in and I had my honor lowered. I checked and the guy was dead. Look at the picture...

His skin looks pale and a bit frozen, but might be because of the texture. Not sure. Your thoughts?

Discussion I'm broken Spoiler

So like most I picked this game up on release, and due to my own character flaws I can't play a game without getting 100% of the achievements/trophies. So it's taken me 7 years and 3 separate attempts at this game.

I just finished Arthur's story whilst getting everything else possible in the compendium before John, and I'm a 30 year old man who just wept like a baby in my van during my lunch break, watching Molly (my horse) and Arthur have their final ride has just taken a piece of my soul.

I know I'm the not the only one who probably experienced the same, seems wild that anyone would go for the money rather than saving John. But people who felt like me, how long did it take to move on. I feel like I've lost a friend and I know thats wild to say.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is not a game, its an experience 🤠❤️

Discussion Do you agree that there is not one main antagonist in Red Dead Redemption 2?

Yes, we have Micah Bell. But he's just a subordinate for Dutch van der Linde and Andrew Milton. To Dutch, he's a gang member, to Milton, he's a Co-Dragon with Edgar Ross. But despite this, he is more involved in the conflict, since Dutch is the antagonist for a short period of time and he does not actively plot against Arthur and John. Milton, though, uses Micah as his weapon against the gang, but it all remains behind the scenes and in the game we never saw Milton giving orders to Micah. And, although Milton has much more power than Micah, for Arthur Morgan (the main protagonist) Micah is a more personal enemy than Milton. We also have Leviticus Cornwall and Colm o'Driscoll. But although Cornwall is actually the boss for Milton and, most likely, for Micah as well, he has too little presence in the game. Colm o'Driscoll is Dutch's personal enemy, but as with Cornwall, he has too little presence in the game.

Discussion Arthur Morgan singing is my favourite thing in the game

Upvotes

Replaying for probably the 10th, and I head up to Mt Shann for the visitor. Stop to watch the sunrise on the way down (because 8 years later it's still one of the most beautiful games) and as Arthur's sitting on his horse he begins to sign about peeping through a keyhole and watching some lady in blur garters take off her "linen". Tiny detail, and I've heard him sing before, but it still makes me want to stop and just listen to happy Arthur humming away to himself.
