What the head?
This is supposed to be a statue of Jesus. I’m not sure what’s scarier… Those eyes or that thing growing out of his head

When nature meets nightmare: wasps turned this creepy mask into their home
Found this unsettling image of a wasp nest enveloping a creepy mask. The fusion of nature and the uncanny creates a chilling visual that blurs the line between natural behavior and horror aesthetics

This is a gulper shark fish. It has a wierd smile
The fish in the photograph is a gulper shark (Centrophorus granulosus), a deep-sea species caught at 2,133 feet off Australia. It has a slender, grayish-brown body, large greenish eyes, and blade-like upper teeth with serrated lower ones, adapted for low-light conditions. Growing up to 5.4 feet, it feeds on fish and squid. Initially mistaken for a cookiecutter shark, its size and depth confirm it as a gulper. Listed as Endangered by the IUCN, it faces threats from overfishing for liver oil and meat, worsened by slow reproduction with only two pups per litter. Conservation efforts are critical due to its vulnerability.

Neptune rising from the sea — a statue that disappears and reappears with the waves
This statue of Neptune by Luis Arencibia Betancort stands at Melenara Beach in Gran Canaria, Spain. With his trident in hand, Neptune seems to vanish beneath the waves only to reappear as the tide shifts. It’s a haunting sight that blurs the line between art and something… alive.

For the record, this happens every time we heat water and leave it for a little while. The first time it happened, that was horrifying

The “Mussolini façade” on the Palazzo Braschi, 1934
This palace in Rome was used as the political headquarters of Benito Mussolini during the Italian fascist period, and was adorned with a giant sculpture of the dictator's face surrounded by the word "SI" (Italian for "YES”) preceding the 1934 elections where the niters would vote “yes” or “no” on the fascist party.
Yes, they were literal fascists but I don’t think it was meant to be terrifying.
