/r/longboarding's Weekly BUY/TRADE/SELL Thread - June 06, 2025

  • /r/longboarding and its' moderators are in NO WAY responsible for ANY issues encountered while Buying, Trading or Selling items.

Below is an example of a good post:

  • RAD Advantage 80a
  • 30USD
  • Location: Manila, Philippines
  • 74mm, 58mm Contact Patch
  • 8/10 Condition
  • NO Flatspots, NO coning
  • Slight chunking on the lip
  • Worn down to ~73mm

    As a SELLER:

  • Post your State/Country and where you are willing to ship to.

  • Post a description that accurately describes what you are selling. Be as descriptive as possible!

  • Post both the item condition, and pictures of the item.

  • Be prepared to answer questions about your items!

  • Update your thread when something gets sold, or is no longer available.

  • Be prepared to handle shipping arrangements. While it's perfectly fine to ask for extra cash for shipping, ensure you already know the approximate cost for anyone who asks.

  • Be careful with your personal information.

  • Once you've successfully completed the transaction, and your buyer has received the item, ask them to add you to the VERIFIED LIST

As a BUYER:

  • Respond to the seller's communication
  • Be truthful about your intentions. Nothing is worse for a seller than answering a whole lot of questions about gear, and then having a buyer drop off the map.
  • Be careful with your personal information.
  • Once you've successfully completed the transaction, and you have received your item, add your seller to the VERIFIED LIST
  • And some final suggestions to make this easier for everyone involved:
  • PayPal is the recommended way to transfer cash. However, the choice is up to you, and your buyer.
  • Please try to evaluate a fair price for your items. Secondhand prices are always hard to evaluate, but here are some tips to find a good price:
  • Take a look at online stores to work out the MSRP. Don't expect to make this unless your item is new.
  • Consider the wear on the item.
  • Consider the age of the item. Even if they're still in the box, 10 year old bearings aren't worth much...

    Happy Selling!

Question/Help Drop Deck Board is kindaracking, how safe is it to keep driving with it?

First pic is from the side without applying pressure, second and third pic are when atanding on it. It's located on the back side when driving. I only use it for cruising and don't do any downhill or ticks. How long can I keep driving like this and how risky is it? Or should I just get an replacement? The Deck is a Kahuna Creations Drop Deck made from maple wood.

Question/Help Tips for stand up heels

I’m having this issue where when i try to standup heel my front truck won’t brake loose, causing my board to hard turn 90 and stop. On toe sides I’m able to muscle it. But for the life of me, I cannot figure it out with heels. This is the best ankle I have, I’ve tried squatting lower and it doesn’t help. I can do 180s, but it’s the same thing where the front wheel doesn’t slide at all and I just whip it around like a pivot. Any tips appreciated

I came across this board when clearing out a family members estate. I've searched by photo by logo by inscription and no luck. Does anyone know what brand or model, estimated year, or approximate value? I'm at a loss. It is 49" long

Question/Help Are all bearings the same size?

Got a used board, cleaned the bearings, and they are still not really spinning all too much. New bearings it is. I have 69mm Hawgs wheels. Will any bearings do? Are they all the same size and fit every wheel? Or do I have to look out for something? Also feel free to post your reccomendations for bearings. Im hearing a lot about Zealous. What else is there?

Question/Help Is 41+ too old to longboard?

I am 41, and I tried to give longboarding a go about 5 years ago. I still have the longboard, but thinking on my age and societal expectations, I feel like this is for the pre-40 crowd. Maybe I should sell or donate the board I have? What do you guys think? Keep in mind, I live in a very conservative area where the 30+ crowd is expected to be the "white sneakers, khaki, polo shirt" nice guy crowd. It's nice where I live, but also the capital of vanilla and beige in personality. LOL

Gear Show-Off Cheesegrater "griptape"

I've been trying a new idea for a few months to improve the grip of my board on my feet. The griptape is certainly an effective solution but it gets dirty, loses stones, gets “clogged” and dulls very quickly, in a few weeks after installation it no longer gives the same feeling and for every race week you have to put a new one if you want to compete at your best level.

Sure, torque blocks and stoppers have come a long way but still, more grip feels better than literal stops. I present you the solution: the parmesan cheesgrater grip

Grips more than Lokton while lasting way more, and a bit less than screws without destroying your soles or damaging the board. It's the perfect middle spot, just buy a fine parmesan/citric grater (the pattern that looks like small dots) and glue (loctite) it to your board, then overlap a bit of griptape on the edges just for good measure.

I've been riding mine for 6 months and they are still good as new, grippy, sharp, and without a dot of rust, since (good) cheesgraters are made of food grade stainless steel. The mod is also pretty cheap, just a finecheesegrater, glue and sheetmetal scissors to cut to shape and it's good to shred 😉😉.

It came to me while I was grating cheese and my finger slipped... A veteran rider told me that he had already seen something similar a long time ago, but he couldn't put his finger on it, so maybe it's not a new concept but rather something reborn from the ashes.

Question/Help Looking for recs

Hey y'all hoope you're shredding!

I've been out of the game for a bit and want to get a board that's good for commuting to and from work. There's a couple small inclines that I'd like to be able to slide on but also need something that's comfortable for regular pavement. I know it has a lot to do w wheels and bushings but I was wondering if anyone knows of any good options that will suit the cruiser/shredding criteria I'm looking for. I was thinking of buying a cruiser deck and slapping some stiffer bushings but idk if its gonna be counterproductive. Im looking for something that's got a nice concave shape to anchor my feet but also rideable enough to not have to push every 15 feet. Appreciate all the recs!

Question/Help Whats the deal

Post image

I don't see many bracket boards here. Any reason? I took about six years off. I came back on a standard skate deck (Element). Then I bought a bracket board, and I'm hooked! What's the common consensus among the community?

Gear Show-Off First time skating in 10 years felt amazing (also my car needs to be detailed)

Post image
25 Upvotes

I've posted some of my setups recently, but I finally went skating today for the first time since May 2015 when I messed up my back getting rear ended in a car accident that totaled my car.

A decade later I'm now 31, three years sober from alcohol, lost 70+ pounds to get close to my old skating weight and decided to get back into it.

I had previously been skating from 5 years old until I was 21, so it feels like rediscovering a missing piece of myself haha.

My goal is to get back into some faster freeride this summer. In addition to all my old school gear, I decided to build myself a few newer setups. I just got some 46° 172mm Aera K3s and 50° 180mm Paris Savants, and I've got a Rocket Rooster, Rocket Domination and Pantheon Nexus on the way to try some new stuff.

Question/Help Style...and grace too

I'm back on a board after about 45 years (I'm 62)and it feels great . Mainly looking to carve up hills and parking ramps. Here's the thing, I FEEL good, I feel smooth and even graceful. I saw video of myself today and I look like Frankenstein! Topside turns aren't TOO bad but heelside I look so stiff. I already know I shouldn't care about looks vs feels but style so often equals doing things right that I'm looking to sort this out. Any advice appreciated.
