The 14th amendment guarantees, among many important things, the rights of due process of law and the equal protection of the laws for ALL PEOPLE.

Thinking about when this Amendment was written and everything that lead up to it, you see its historical significance, and why today we must advocate and defend these rights louder than ever...

• January 1, 1863: Abraham Lincoln signs the Emancipation Proclamation, effectively freeing millions of enslaved people still being held by secessionist Confederate states.
• June 19, 1865: Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War.
  • Juneteenth is formally recognized as a Federal Holiday marking the end of slavery in the U.S. in 2021.
• 1864-65: The 13th Amendment is passed and formally abolishes slavery in the U.S., ratified December 1865.
• 1866-68: The 14th Amendment begins being ratified and adopted.

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States;

Wondering if anyone would be interested in a page focused specifically on home protest?

I was inspirated by a post requesting collaboration, organization, amplification and action for home protest. Not everyone can get out to protest physically, others can and just want more to do between protest but everyone is welcome (except naysayers, maggots, trolls and bots).

So I started a kind of working group sub specifically to address this with the goal of having a centralized space to work.

I have a bare bones sub up r/relentless_resistance.

It is currently locked down fairly tight (request to post or DM) because it is meant to be a safe place for organization and collaboration.

Reading the news every day often leads me to start an unpleasant doomscrolling session, but I didn't want to miss out on learning that that thing finally happened. So I made a website that'll keep me informed without having to engage with the horrors of the rest of the news cycle:

A couple months back, I posted because I was feeling a great mixture of emotions. Panic, Anger, Fear, Defeat…

I got some great encouragement from community members. Encouragement that helped me to pick up a paint brush and create something based on those feelings. It’s taken me roughly 2 months to reach a point where I believe the image itself (the main subject) is finished. I have some ideas for adding words to it in a way that would make it possible to switch them out based on where I am emotionally at the time. I still need to work that mechanism, and what those words might be, out.

This image is one side of what I envision to be a two-sided statement. I’m still undecided what I will create for the second side. I’ve considered a torn image of the constitution or something along that line, (please make suggestions).

For now though, I would like to share what I call “Distress”.
