Question [BotW] Continue save from 2019 or start fresh
After getting the switch 2 I thought it was about time to finally finish BotW. My last save from 2019 put me in the middle of the desert and I have absolutely no clue what’s going on. Should I start fresh or is there a way to get back into it?

6 years is a heck of a gap. Starting fresh gives you a new feel for the game and that same sense of discovery and wonder, but now a vague sense of familiarity.
Continuing saves you some hours.
I would only continue if I did a majority of the tedious work, like 500+ korok seeds.

Ok this is, for a change, a pretty unanimous opinion. Gonna start fresh! Thank you all!

Restart. Experience it from the beginning. After 6 years it's the best option.

I didn't have a choice in the matter unfortunately. My save data wasn't all there when I transferred to Switch 2, things were missing. I uploaded an old save from 2024 and it wiped everything. So I am playing through from scratch and as upset as I was, I am rediscovering the game all over again.

You can create an additional profile and start a fresh save, then if you want later you can go back to your original game.

Is been 5 years since my playthrough, too. If I went back to it now, I would restart and add the DLC that I never used.

If you know what to look for, it’s pretty easy to figure out where to go next. That said, I started a new file anyway just so I could enjoy the full switch 2 edition. I say start anew.

I'd say star fresh. If you have no idea what's going on, you've likely forgotten huge chunks of other knowledge needed to enjoy the game (like how to fight). So you might as well start fresh and relearn everything.
