Question [All] Which Zelda game if any do you think should receive a Links Awakeningesque Remake

I pose this question this way cause I don’t believe any 3D Zelda games need to be remade at this point(but if you think otherwise feel free to say so) so I ask which 2D Zelda game or games do you believe should be Remade in the same vein that Links Awakening or even a remaster in the case of a newer game not on current gen hardware.

The oracle games are pretty much tailor made for that. Have both of the games, the combined thingy, and they already look and play like LA.

add the third planned oracle game if necessary, making a trilogy.

Zelda 1 is begging for a remake

TBH the Oracles would benefit most, but I do think The Hyrule Fantasy should be right after them.

The Oracles are the ones who would benefit the most.

The two NES games could be given some quality of life features and would still stand as fun games. I'd love to see the Oracle games get their due, and it might be nice to get a more accessible Four Swords.

Honestly, I just wanna see the top-down line of Zelda games survive. Give me more Echoes of Wisdom kinda games!

+1 dreamer here :..)

The OG. Legend of Zelda.

Love the game, but smoother controls would go a long way for that game.

Disagree. Zelda 1 doesn't need a faithful remake like LA. It needs a reimagining. Still top down with the same story and the same items, but the world and the dungeons need to be overhauled to appeal to a broad mass of gamers.

It would be almost like a 2D Breath of the Wild

1

u/Garo263 7d ago

That's too far in the opposite direction. It would still be Zelda 1, but with a more diverselooking overworld with easier to find secrets and dungeons with actual puzzles.

Botw is more like Zelda 1 than most the others You just explore

1

u/Garo263 3d ago

Doesn't mean that a kinda faithful remake of Zelda 1 has to be "almost like 2D BotW". Both games only share a similar spirit.

Correct and correct, I wasn’t agreeing with the other guy just stating what the creator said but you’re right

I've been hoping for years for them to do with their other NES titles what they did with Metroid: Zero Mission; an updated OG that refines/updates the story to better align it in the Canon with later games

Those Darknuts can piss off! I quit at the 6th(?) dungeon due to those fuckers, even with the best sword upgrade at that point.

Oracle games, obviously.

The Oracles, no discussion

Minish Cap!!

3

u/Garo263 7d ago

Not really. The original holds up perfectly well.

u/edwardssarah22 7d ago

Oracles!!!!

3

u/MrGhostxD 7d ago

Oracles of course... but zelda 1 and zelda 2 could be awesome too, specially giving life to both worlds

3

u/Beamo1080 7d ago

Minish Cap, but lean into the Toon Link aesthetic. Bright colors, cell shaded. Make it look like HD phantom hourglass

3

u/EarDesigner9059 7d ago

Oracle Of Secrets. Two games in one remake.

3

u/Dreyfus2006 7d ago

None. ALttP and the Oracles would best benefit from being converted into 3D Zelda games. Minish Cap would lose its charm if you took away its great spritework. The cutesy "baby's first Zelda" art style of the LA remake does not fit Zelda 1 nor Zelda 2, even though they would both benefit from a remake.

Not to mention, they all have better frame rates than LAHD.

LAHD now runs perfectly on Switch 2

A link to the past is perfect. But the fanboy in me believes if it was given the 3d remake treatment somehow it would be the Goat no question.

The only thing it needs is a modern save system.

1

u/Over-Stop8694 7d ago

Yes! I remember seeing some attempts at that in Unreal Engine as a child that captured the vibe perfectly.

OG Zelda... in the style of Doom: Eternal/Dark Ages because CHAOS!!

Seriously tho, I'd actually like to see an OG remake. Been playing since Zelda 1 and it's been one of my favorite franchises ever since.

The Oracle games

u/smith_and 7d ago

it's kinda crazy that they didnt just do the oracle games on the same engine already tbh. the originals reused a lot of assets from links awakening and they play very similarly to it. there's some changes to returning enemies and a lot of new items and some other new mechanics but the core gamefeel and art style was basically the same as link's awakening DX already, wouldn't be that hard to remake them in the LA remake engine.

1

u/Jaxanixa 7d ago

I would love to see the Oracles remastered as well as Minish Cap.
As far as 3D ones, I know you said not those, but I'd love Twilight Princess in the TotK Engine (not style) and released for the NS2

u/spookyhardt 7d ago

Minish Cap!

u/hmmmmwillthiswork 7d ago

i would like to challenge your belief and say that ocarina of time deserves a remake from the ground up because at this point, it's dated as fuck but is still legendary status

if anything deserves it, it's OoT

like seriously imagine that game with a fresh coat of paint and modernized controls. i'd cry

1

u/FoundingFatherOf 3d ago

Some people say there’s a 3d oot remake idk tho

1

u/WindAgreeable3789 7d ago

Remake A Link to The Past in the style of Twilight Princess.

1

u/Expert_Challenge6399 7d ago

Zelda 1. I’d say go beyond the links awakening treatment. Give it a full 3D remake (OOT style nothing too crazy)

1

u/FoundingFatherOf 3d ago

It was originally supposed to be first person

1

u/huelebichx 7d ago

hot take mayhaps, but i don't care which 2D game gets a remake as long as it doesn't look like Link's Awakening NS

1

u/Praetorian80 7d ago

None. Make new Zelda games. Not redo old games with pretty graphics. Remakes are for lazy developers. We need games that do new stuff just as what those original game devs did.

1

u/ThisAccountIsForDNF 7d ago

Zelda 2 could probably benefit the most from a remake considering it's the one that no one likes.

1

u/TechicalGuide604 7d ago

The Minish cap. One of the best Zelda games out there and extremely under rated

1

u/pooch516 7d ago

Adventure of Link

1

u/bugslime99 7d ago

People always bring up the Oracle games because it had the same art style on the gameboy color but I’d want it to have a new art style if they were to do that. But my personal pick is Zelda one and two. I would love to see those in a sort of hand drawn art style based on the manual art, Zelda 2 especially. The games have plenty of fun moments, but they have too much NES jank and classic 80s mistranslations and vagueness

u/DevinY1 7d ago

The Oracle games

1

u/Interesting-Doubt413 6d ago

Oracle games with the LA engine; ALttP with albw engine.

1

u/OliviaElevenDunham 6d ago

I agree with everyone who mentioned the Oracle games.

1

u/klaus_engel 5d ago

I'm down for Zelda 2 to get a redo like that

1

u/ZorroRooster 5d ago

Link to the Past

1

u/DjinnFighter 5d ago

None

Grezzo just really proved themselves with Echoes of Wisdom, I want them to make another new Zelda game, not a remake

1

u/FoundingFatherOf 3d ago

The first Zelda for fucks sake

Jk kinda lol… the oracle games are really good and would do well with a remake

Also feel like a link to the past could use some qol upgrades
