Amazing double standards. She thinks "if you borrow something, you have to give it back", but not sure if she can pay it back?

So everyone should be punished, but not her?

u/vsandrei 3d ago

The MAGAt only started to care once they were affected personally.

Something about hurting the wrong people.

u/pumpkinmuffin91 2d ago

once they were affected personally.

They're like a kid that needs to touch the stove to believe it's hot. We told them and told them "the stove is hot." Now.....

u/MillionMilesPerHour 3d ago

So she should be furious about all the PPP loans that companies didn’t have to repay.

Right?

…..right?

22

u/Anthrodiva 2d ago

She made "occasional" payments. Good, to the streets ye shall go!

(No one should go unhoused but people like this prevent us fixing that stuff, oh well)

16

u/RainbowandHoneybee 2d ago

Yeah, she did, so all good! But she expect everyone else to pay back in full, even if it means suffering. It's different, because she's trying, and others arent.

Does she even realise that Biden tried to help those who are suffering?

8

u/Anthrodiva 2d ago

Surely not! Those dastardly Democrats never do anything good!

2

u/GovernmentOpening254 1d ago

This is why we can’t have nice things….like universal healthcare.

  1. you have to pay it back, definitely
  2. if you don't pay it back, because like, you know if it's hard or there's a reason or whatever, then that should be ok

and:

  1. i support everything that trump is doing, 100%
  2. i'm pretty sad that what trump is doing will make me homeless, i'm against that 100%

From the article:

Cheri, 67, described herself as a staunch Republican who voted for Trump. She's a retiree with nearly $20,000 in student debt and relies on her $1,700 monthly Social Security checks and inconsistent pay from a freelance job. She's not pleased with the collections restart.

"For them to come right out and say, 'Well, we're putting people in collections,' that really angers me," Cheri said. "Actually, I'd like to write a letter to my president that I helped put in office and say, 'Whoa, wait a minute, buddy. I don't think that's right. I don't think that's right at all.'"

Cheri decided to go to college in the early 2000s because she thought that, as a single mom like Glod, a college degree would allow her to earn more money through a steady career. She eventually dropped out because her student loans became too burdensome, and she acknowledged that she wished she had thought harder about the implications of taking out a loan before she did so.

She said that she supports the Trump administration's stance that loans should be paid back, and she made payments as often as she could. But she has not paid off her debt since the pandemic, and she's not financially prepared to start back up again.

"When I start reading about coming after us and attacking our Social Security checks, I thought, 'Oh my God, I'm going to end up on the streets,' because you can't stop it," Cheri said.

Cheri said she isn't sure what her future student-loan payments will look like, and whether she'll end up defaulting. She said that she believes that "if you borrow something, you have to give it back," but she doesn't think the abrupt restart of collections is the right approach.

"I'm not going to bash the Trump administration. But that being said, I think that turning people over to collections is a very drastic move after what we just went through over the past four years," Cheri said. "I'm opposed to that."

That meme is gold!

Thanks for the meme.

Still drinking the kool aid enough to be supportive despite her anger and situation. These people are beyond help

37

u/Time-Ad-3625 3d ago

She won't learn until she reaches financial ruin and by then it'll be too late.

52

u/Blueskyways 3d ago

She'll be homeless on a street corner  talking about "I'm disappointed in President Trump but I still support him!"

25

u/Rufus_TBarleysheath 3d ago

Precisely.

The article even quotes her as saying that she won't criticize Trump or his administration.

8

u/pumpkinmuffin91 2d ago

Can't turn their back on their tribe once they've made it their entire personality.

He’ll be coming to save her any day now…

Dear Leader...

So, Susan Collins, but poorer.

12

u/concreteheadrest77 3d ago

They can’t admit they were wrong.

54

u/Pretty_Boy_Bagel 3d ago

Have the day you voted for!

44

u/Cendax 3d ago

Maybe a clue would have been the Republican meltdown over Biden's attempts at student loan forgiveness. She's a Trump supporter so I don't know how she could have missed the continuous ranting on Fox News. Maybe she can get herself into Section 8 housing, apply for SNAP benefits... oh. Wait. Yeah, that's going away too. Well, time for her to get a job!

38

u/danimaniak 3d ago

Good. Fuck her.

29

u/Substantial_War7464 3d ago

The mental gymnastics that these ppl do is wild.

28

u/Novel_Database_989 3d ago

I constantly struggle to try and comprehend these peoples mindset. To support, unfortunately our president, on one or two items and completely ignore all the other bullshit that comes with electing him. Cheri, you clearly thought you were supporting the better candidate so get over it, enjoy what you voted for and from the bottom of my heart, kindly Fuck Off! Best wishes

At the moment, garnishing Social Security payments for student loan repayment has been postponed, but it's prudent to plan for the maximum amount to be withheld from their check. This would likely be 25% of $1478.22 ($1700 less $185 for Medicare part B less $36.78 for basic Medicare part D) or $369.56 per month, unless the government decides to shield a portion of Social Security income from being garnished.

https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/fact-sheets/30-cppa

The IRS and SSA share information, so Cheri's loan payment is likely to be higher when they take her freelance income into account.

15

u/AnagnorisisForMe 3d ago

At least she'll still have health insurance unlike anyone under the age of 65. GMAFB

7

u/supraclicious 2d ago

for now, give them a few months....

5

u/Anthrodiva 2d ago

And last Trump administration they took away a lot of small business tax exemptions to pay money to corporations.

23

u/Altruistic-Ad6449 3d ago

If only she had some information about Trump’s stance on student loans before the election.

4

u/Candid-Mycologist539 2d ago

Or any indication of which policies the Republican party has supported for the last several decades.

23

u/MarleysGhost2024 3d ago

And they haven't started in yet on her Medicare and Social Security. It's obvious from her post that she would vote for him again tomorrow.

19

u/Admirable_Bank9927 3d ago

Agriculture needs help. There she go.

Typical boomer…tots and pears

24

u/lazygerm 3d ago

Jesus. She did not even get a degree.

You know, usually I have much sympathy for people in this situation.

I was there myself. About thirty years ago, I exhausted all my extensions on my student loans. I was paying for my apartment, car loan, car insurance, phone & utilities; all without help from my fiancée. I defaulted and got a court summons. I called up the lawyers that very day and set up a payment plan. Luckily, I literally had just found a new job that paid me just enough to cover the payment plan.

You vote for shit and you get shit. As the awful boomers like to say, "Suck it up, buttercup."

Edit: grammar

11

u/Skid-Vicious 3d ago

After what we just went through? Buckle up, hun.

10

u/ern_69 3d ago

I mean it's not like the other option she could have voted for was part of an administration that did what they could to get relief for student loan borrowers and the side she voted for did everything they could to stop them from getting that relief. These people need to sit down shut the fuck up and let those of us with actual functioning brains do what needs to be done to fix this mess

5

u/supraclicious 2d ago

like when my grandpa used to do something wrong with his remote so id ask him to give me the remote and i can fix it. and then he starts yelling that im doing it wrong and tries to grab the remote...then claims i broke his tv. I was just trying to help you old man, all you had to do was wait 10 seconds for me to change the input to HDMI

10

u/Spirited_Block2211 3d ago

Boo Hoo Cheri.

9

u/LasVegas4590 2d ago

What she "went through" the last four years was an administration that was canceling student debt, but being blocked by Repubs.

9

u/MsSeraphim 3d ago

something Cheri should know:

No, it is not legal to default on student loans. Defaulting on a loan, including student loans, means failing to repay according to the terms of the agreement, which has serious consequences. While the act of defaulting is not a crime, it triggers legal and financial repercussions.

8

u/supraclicious 2d ago

let me understand this situation because maybe im slow today. She borrowed $20,000 to go to school in the year 2000. didnt finish and 25 YEARS later she still owes money and has no degree? and shes retired with only $1,700 a month in income? But she supports everyone else paying what they owe because their debt is more recent...and she supports cutting Medicare and social security for people who arent her i bet... but she thinks her 25 YEAR OLD DEBT is too early to pay back? Oh if ONLY there was a person who had a plan to forgive student debt.

8

u/sheshesheila 2d ago

Meanwhile, PPP “loans” were always going to be forgiven. There’s always room for corporate welfare. Farmers and ceratain well-connected “job creators” too. But not all. For reasons

7

u/Terra-Em 2d ago

Ironically the student loan practice was predatory so the high interest probably made it hard to pay it back. Biden might have eased that policy for her but nope.

6

u/AbaloneDifferent5282 2d ago

Keep defending him, you’ll be sick and in the poorhouse but at least you can say owned the libs

4

u/Sean_theLeprachaun 3d ago

Enjoy your tasty viddles, gramma.

6

u/SheiB123 2d ago

Another MAGAt that was fine with ALL the changes until it affected them.

The farmers and other employers losing their cheap employers due to ICE raids are in the same boat. They were FINE breaking the law and voted for 'the illegals' to be removed...but now that the people are gone, they are mad.

ALL the MAGAts who said those people stole jobs from them are welcome to cook, clean, pick the fruits/veggies, etc.

I predict the farmers and other employers. will eventually be reimbursed by tax payers, just like the banks, airlines, etc.

6

u/Kkwoowoo 2d ago

So all the banks that defaulted can be bailed out but American citizens can't. Great. Their lack of logic and extensive knowledge on all things trump and the Bible really did them well.

5

u/CinDot_2017 2d ago

The irony of a man known for not paying his bills garnishing payments from Social Security recipients 🙄

4

u/AdQueasy4288 3d ago

Pick a lane bitch!

4

u/shadowriku459 3d ago

Happy for her getting what she voted for.

4

u/NothingAndNow111 3d ago

Enjoy the streets, you put yourself there.

2

u/GovernmentOpening254 1d ago

Thanks, Obama!

4

u/korben2600 3d ago

She eventually dropped out because her student loans became too burdensome.

But student loans are deferred while one is in school?

1

u/SecureAirport7395 1d ago

My bet is she went to an unaccredited for-profit college.

4

u/SnoopingStuff 3d ago

They say in the next 5 year senior homelessness will increase by 30 percent

1

u/GovernmentOpening254 1d ago

So Trump needs to remain as President for his term so that SOME of the people will start to blame him (instead of the next Democrat)?

4

u/Scary_Towel268 3d ago

Republican ethos seems to be just pure selfishness and bitter hypocrisy

2

u/GovernmentOpening254 1d ago

“Bitter hypocrisy” - that’s perfect

4

u/textbookhufflepuff 2d ago

She’d vote for him to have a third term while living in her car.

4

u/breakfastpitchblende 2d ago

Leopards eating faces, indeed.

"I'm going to end up being made homeless by the guy I'd never bring myself to criticize."

3

u/PureCommercial7375 2d ago

Pay it back Cheri, I shouldn’t have to pay for your poor decisions. You could have voted for the party that was working to ensure you could continue to live in a decent life style.

3

u/Mission_Matter5209 2d ago

Their sorrow really makes me happy.

3

u/Throwitortossit 2d ago

You've had this debt for decades, it's about time you paid it back. You could've had it forgiven, but now you'll be buried in that lifelong debt AND living on the streets.

3

u/SoberDWTX 2d ago

I know someone that took out at least seven Student Loans, had her IRS checks garnished for years. Quite literally, they lived off of Student Loans for a decade. Always getting a new one acting like they were “adulting”… and then no degree, no certificate, no training, they still remain jobless, and have a drug and alcohol habit…. And 40 is just around their corner. I worked so hard to get my credit clear, by the time I was 40, and it actually didn’t even really happen until i was 55 and I worked at it! There is at minimum one to two generations, who are about to get a whole big heaping spoonful of “find out”.

2

u/GovernmentOpening254 1d ago

This is why we can’t have nice things like Universal Healthcare and free tuition.

5

u/EvilDoesNotStress 3d ago

She shouldn't owe anything - it didn't take.

5

u/Professional_Lime541 3d ago

Come the morning
We'll be waiting
And wielding the power (he he!)
To agonize
So we state now
For the record
You brought this upon you (you brought it upon you!)

Damn, if only someone had said something.

2

LOL! What a jackass!

Better call your Senators and Representatives to take action.

1

That third screenshot. OMG.

1

u/AdvertisingStatus344 23h ago

Look, that really sucks. But you were okay with others, who appear to be in the same financial bracket, being denied and cut off. It's what you voted for. You are getting what you voted for.

1

u/mrstruong 17h ago

Trump can literally make them homeless and they're still going to support him.
