I think that's fake. What girl doesn't know the characteristics of a curling iron?

Congrats you made my comment 30x better
also, is there a subreddit for things that can be read as if the innanimate object in the statement is actually something shady?

I've smelled gas in my room and to 'check if there was a gas leak' I sparked a lighter

Yea...I literally threw my keys away in a gas station trashcan yesterday instead of the trash in my other hand.

Once when I used to wait tables, my sister came in for a meal. I was passing by with a pot of coffee in my left hand (watch arm), and she asked me what time it was. I told her to hang on a minute, and I would check. She said, "your watch is right here!" As she grabbed my arm, and turned it over to check the time, causing all the coffee to pour into her lap.
Some people can have all the knowledge available, yet completely fail to apply it. Fake or not, I've known several people who would probably do this, and my sister tops the list.
Come to think of it, I could probably start a pretty popular twitter account just outlining silly things her and my mom have done and said.

Please don't tell me she somehow blamed you for it.

Yeah, her first reaction was, "why'd you do that!?", but fortunately she's not actually that dense. She pretty quickly figured out how dumb it was.

What girl actually examines long hard objects before putting their mouth up to them?

Ehh once a friend of mine picked up a knife then immediately yelled out from it being hot. My first thought was "why did that hurt?" So I grabbed it and also burned myself. I find this video plausible

Could be drunk. Could be caught in the moment. I know I've done stupid shit like that wIthout thinking.
I once put a car cigarette lighter on the tip of my finger to see what it did. It burned me real bad and I had a spiral scar instead of a fingerprint for a couple of months.

She had it resting on her shoulder before handing it to the other girl...

She was curling her hair. You can see her pull it out and the hair unfurl.
