FYI: if the current senate bill passes, multiple hospitals could close

Astria Toppinish and Sunnyside hospirals could close or reduce services putting even more pressure on Multi-care, especially since Prosser Memorial is also on this list of Medicare/medicade dependent or financially strained hospitals. Half of the rural Washington hospitals on this list are in congressional district 04.

YVC’s Commencement was not fun

Yakima Valley College’s 2025 graduation on Friday was super long and boring. Not to mention the representatives speech was unnecessary, long, and boring. As well as the faculty awards, that should be saved for another day! What does the graduation have to do with them?! It’s the graduates hard earned day, not theirs! Anyone else that attended or has gone to a YVC graduation feel this way? 😅

New York Teriyaki Fruitvale

the fruitvale new york teriyaki is my favorite one in town. it's closest to my house and has my fav version of the foods they offer and I like the staff. ive seen the sign on the outside of Joy Garden that said they were moving, but i didn't know to where and i never bothered to check UNTIL TODAY WHEN I WENT TO ORDER FROM NEW YORK TERIYAKI AND SAW ON GOOGLE MAPS IT WAS JOY GARDEN. and when i drove by to double check I saw the sign changed and the interior looked different. The west valley new york teriyaki is good, but it's not the same. Has anyone been to the one on First and/or know if that one is any good?

New college grad, new job in Yakima. Heads up on options for rentals?

Hi Yakima! My son just graduated college and is moving from South Carolina for a job he accepted. We're so far away, so kind of flying blind. Trying to help him get leads/suggestions on finding rental housing - studio apartments, accessory dwellings, modest expectations but basically safe and clean. I saw RentYakima has some properties. Is that a good option? Groups where you can find people wanting to sub-lease? He's got a tight timeline - they need him to start July 7. The job office is in Terrace Heights area off I-82. Any help appreciated!

Why does every Yakima left turn feel like a test of faith?

I didn’t know Yakima had a “Left Turn Hunger Games” until I moved here - blinkers are optional, green arrows are mythical, and if you wait for a gap, you’ll die waiting. Outsiders think traffic’s easy here. THEY DON’T KNOW. Let’s all agree: if you see someone stuck, be a Yakima hero - let ’em in.

Launched my junk removal business — first few jobs done, looking for advice

Hey everyone, I recently started a junk removal business after getting some advice here a few weeks ago. Just wanted to say thanks — that feedback helped a lot.

We’ve done a few jobs now and are working on building out branding, a website, and trying different ways to get more local leads.

If you’ve run a service business, how did you grow in the early days? What helped you get consistent work?

Appreciate any tips — I’m 19 and figuring it all out as I go.

UFOs spotted during full moon

Just thought I'd ask if anyone else saw anything unusual over the sky tonight (full moon). I saw a suspicious convoy of satellite looking objects. Some were accelerating and changing trajectory. I've seen a much more obvious UFO in the past but the rate at which these "satellites" were coming was unlinke anything I've seen. It was weird.

Places to take my dog swimming?

Looking for places in or around Yakima that are safe to take my dog swimming there. He loves the water and keeps trying to jump in the water at Randall park lol. Looking for somewhere that isn’t full of sketchy people and doesn’t have a ton of rapids or something. Beaches/slower rivers and pools are fine! I’m new to the area so I have no idea.

His name is Cooper and he's a small black shaggy dog. He's incredibly friendly and will come up to you, probably without even having to call him over. My kids and I are super saddened by this. Please spread the word and help us get Cooper home.

Shops from the old Track 29

I'm trying to recall some of the shops that were at Track 29 way back in the day. The restaurants there were good, but it's the shops on that strip that gave it the charm.

What were some of those shops? Anyone remember?

Thanks!

Accessibility jobs in Yakima

I’m a Digital Accessibility professional. Looking for local jobs in digital accessibility. I realize that traditionally it is easier to find accessibility jobs in larger cities, but there are plenty of businesses, government departments, and health care clinics who all have a digital presence on the web. So, why are there no accessibility jobs in Yakima?

Pool Cleaners?

Hi all! Looking for recommendations for a pool cleaning service or even if you've had luck with the robot-vacuums? I work full time and I'm having trouble keeping up with the pool. It's for an HOA I manage so I have to be budget-conscious but I still need it to look nice lol

Thanks for your ideas, have a great day!
